For over ten years, a supra-regional meeting of cars with plastic bodies has been taking place in Switzerland under the name "Fantastic Plastic". The first editions were organized in the Lucerne area, and since 2019 the meeting has been held in Hinterthurgau in Rickenbach, not far from Wil St. Gallen.
The main thing is plastic
All cars equipped with a plastic body are welcome. The spectrum typically ranges from the Alpine A110 to the Zagato Zele.
Rarities and exotics
In the 1950s to 1970s, small-series carmakers in particular chose GRP and variations of it as a material because it meant that they could avoid investing in expensive pressing tools and even the smallest production runs were financially viable despite the not inconsiderable additional manual work required per car.
Typical examples of this will be on display in Rickenbach, such as an Elva Courier Mk1 from 1958 or a Peerless GT from 1959.
A larger delegation of Marcos vehicles is also expected and the sports cars from Lotus, Matra and TVR will certainly not be missing. There will be one or two Corvettes from the USA, and replicas were also often built with plastic bodies.
In any case, the organizers are expecting a record turnout, good weather has been ordered and there will be no shortage of catering options.
