Despite changeable weather, the 1st Störy Revival small car meeting in the classic car town of Einbeck on the weekend of 1 to 3 June 2018 ended with an extremely positive summary from the organizers and participants.
Over 150 small car fans from all over the world came to Einbeck with almost 100 vehicles to revive the tradition of the legendary small car meeting in Störy near Hildesheim, which ended 15 years ago, at a new location. And with good reason: the Störy collection, which until recently was largely hidden from public view in the closed halls of the small car museum in Störy, can now be seen again in the PS.Speicher in the special exhibition "Klein aber Mein" and on individual visitor days in the PS.Depot Kleinwagen.
"Small but mine"
It all started on Friday evening with the opening ceremony of the new special exhibition "Small but Mine". Around 400 guests learned about the eventful history of the museum. Otto Künnecke, for example, reported on the beginnings of the small car meeting in 1971. At the beginning of the millennium, he finally had to close the museum in Störy due to official fire safety regulations. When Karl-Heinz Rehkopf found out about the planned sale of the collection, he quickly got in touch with Mr. and Mrs. Künnecke and did not hesitate for long with the purchase, as the collection was in danger of being sold abroad. In this way, he saved the world's largest collection of its kind from being broken up.
Exhibition director Sascha Fillies and Matthias Kaluza, managing director of the Zwickau agency ö_konzept, reported on the planning of the special exhibition and the selection of exhibits. In addition to curiosities and rarities such as the smallest car in the world, a Peel P50, or a Heinkel cabin, fans of small cars will find vehicles from almost 100 years ago - from a Hanomag 2/10 hp commissary from the 1920s to a modern Audi A2 with an aluminum body. The entire special exhibition "Small but Mine" covers an area of over 1,000 square meters, spread over two levels. Around 50 exhibits are on display, some of which are presented in a lavishly staged manner.
Opening of PS.Depot small cars
On Saturday, the second highlight awaited the participants of the Störy Revival small car meeting: the first opening of the new PS.Depot Kleinwagen at Altendorfer Tor.
The PS.Depot Kleinwagen displays around 150 vehicles on almost 2,000 square meters - some of which are lovingly lined up on high shelves like in a box. Visits are possible at any time for registered groups. Individual visitors will still have the opportunity to visit the PS.Depot Kleinwagen on 21.07. and 30.09. in 2018.
Even small cars like to go on big trips and so the participants of the meeting then drove to Alfeld to the Fagus factory there. Against the picturesque backdrop of the World Heritage building, Isettas, Kleinschnittger and countless other brands lined up like a string of pearls.
The PS.Speicher team is already planning the continuation of the event next year, which will once again attract numerous small car fans to Einbeck from 13 to 16 June 2019.
