On 25 May 2013, RM Auctions will be organizing an auction at the Villa d'Erba for the second time, benefiting from its proximity to the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. While last time the focus was on a few gems from the Bertone collection, in 2013 some exquisite Ferrari sports and racing cars will take center stage.
There is the Ferrari 340/375 MM from 1953, once driven by Hawthorn, Farina and Acara, winner of the 12 Hours of Pescara and record time holder at the Carrera Panamericana under Maglioli. It will stand in the park of the Villa d'Erba in perfectly restored condition, as visitors to the Rétromobile in Paris have already been able to see for themselves.
The Ferrari 400 Superamerica SWB Coupé from 1962, which was only built 36 times, is certainly also interesting.
The aerodynamic-looking coupé was the quintessential product of the rich 50 years ago and is coming under the hammer in Como in the most interesting configuration. However, the estimated price of 1.9 to 2 million euros is also at a correspondingly high level.
In addition, two other Ferrari models are already known to be looking for new owners on May 25: a Ferrari 330 GTC from 1966 and a Ferrari 275 GTB from 1965. This pair is also likely to attract offers of well over half a million euros.
The lot list has not yet been filled, but we will report on further vehicles on an ongoing basis.
