The popularity of the Ennstal-Classic is reflected in the number of entrants. The event duo Michael Glöckner and Helmut Zwickl selected 238 starters from over 300 entries. No less than 51 different brands will roll off the starting ramp in Gröbming on Thursday, July 19 and head towards the Salzburgring, a stage destination that will be visited for the first time. Austria's most representative classic car rally is sending participants from 17 nations to the Alpine arena, including drivers from China, Australia, Mexico, Ireland and Russia.
Porsche, once again the number one partner of the Ennstal, is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the 356, which has become a legend, this year. The Stuttgart-based brand with its Austrian origins in Gmünd has the highest "market share" in the starting field with 43 cars. Jaguar is in second place with 30 cars, followed by Alfa Romeo with 22 starters and Mercedes-Benz with 19. No fewer than ten Ferraris, more than in a long time, are on the starting list and long-faded exotics such as Alvis, Auburn, Devin, Iso Rivolta, Riley, Lagonda, Siata, DKW, Ballot, AC Cobra and Talbot will delight the audience.
