Some events cannot be announced too early. Artcurial will be auctioning the 1965 Ferrari Dino 206 P Berlinetta Speciale drawn by Pininfarina at the Rétromobile 2017 auction on February 10, 2017.
The prototype was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 1965 and, as it later turned out, it was to anticipate the Dino 206/246 GT, albeit in a more extreme form.
The car did not come out of obscurity or a dusty collection; it had been part of the collection of the Musée l'Automobile in Le Mans since 1967 and the prototype could be seen at both the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and the 2016 Rétromobile.
However, the fact that the car is now being auctioned is still a surprise, but the Automobile Club de 'lOuest is apparently trying to raise funds for further additions to its collection with the sale.
No estimate is currently available, but it could very well be that an eight-figure sum is expected for the unrestored prototype. After all, the design set the style for the various Ferrari models for decades
A report on the car was published some time ago on zwischengas.com.
