The Swiss Club SMVC, which has many classic and vintage car owners in Switzerland as members, is using the momentum of the Year of Cultural Heritage to become active itself. With the "Aktion18", i.e. free membership for new members until December 31, 2018, the SMVC wants to invite "clubless" young and classic car owners, as well as sympathizers, to join a club steeped in tradition and thus come together with like-minded people.
The SMVC wants to prepare itself for the future of the classic car hobby in cooperation with the umbrella organization SHVF, Swiss Historic Vehicle Federation and the other clubs.
The SMVC is doing the following to reach potential new members:
- Participation in the three classic car exhibitions: OTM Fribourg, Saturday March 24 and Sunday March 25; Swiss Classic World Lucerne, Saturday May 26 and Sunday May 27; Oldtimermesse St. Gallen, Sunday October 28. This section is aimed at those interested in classic cars.
- Participation in the O-iO Oldtimer in Obwalden, Saturday, May 19 in Sarnen and Pentecost Sunday, May 20 in Engelberg.
- Organization of three events of our own: Vitznauer Nostalgietag, Sunday 29 July; Oldtimer Träff Laufen / BL, Sunday 26 August; Altstadtmarkt Bremgarten, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 October. All these events are aimed at a wider public and are free for spectators, including cab rides; Vitznauer Nostalgietag and Laufen also offer free entry for classic cars. In Bremgarten, a small fee is charged for passenger rides in aid of Pro Infirmis.
The SMVC stand supervisors look forward to welcoming interested classic car and youngtimer enthusiasts to the classic car fairs or events listed above. Of course, seating, drinks and snacks are available!
