The Rétromobile in Paris is one of the most important classic car trade fairs in the world, and for many fans it is even the most important. From February 3 to 7, 2016, tens of thousands of visitors will once again make the pilgrimage through the halls in the "Parc des expositions" at the "Porte de Versailles", which will be packed as usual, to admire the stands of the numerous car manufacturers represented.
Citroën with two, four and six cylinders
At the 41st Rétromobile, French manufacturer Citroën will be exhibiting the 2 CV Fourgonnette, the Méhari and, of course, the DS.
The DS stand also focuses on the SM.
"The SM is to the DS what the Concorde was to the Caravelle ..." is one way of describing it.
The DS modification by Hector Bossaert, a two-door coupé based on the DS, which was built 12 times but only one of which is said to have survived, is unique and rarely seen.
Honda with S800 and NSX
Honda shows two sports cars in Paris, the high-speed S800, which was presented in Paris in 1966, and the aluminum mid-engine sports car NSX, which debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in 1989.
Jaguar and Land Rover together
The Indian-owned British manufacturer's 2016 display includes Jaguar E-Types, but also the early Range Rovers, which have already become classics.
A Jaguar XJR-9 LM 488 will also be on display at the Rétromobile.
Convertibles and roadsters at Mercedes-Benz
The large 300 SC convertible with 175 hp and the sporty 300 SL Roadster, first shown at the 1957 Geneva Motor Show, will be on display at the Mercedes-Benz stand.
Porsche and the triangular scraper
The Porsche 18W-RS Spyder is certainly something very special. With its eight-cylinder engine with a displacement of two liters, the open sports prototype produced 240 hp and weighed just 685 kg. No wonder, it was very competitive.
The skills of the Porsche workshops are showcased with cars from the "Concours de Restauration Classic".
Renault with its own expo
Renault will be showcasing a diverse selection of cars from its more than 100-year history.
From early witnesses such as the AK from 1906 to more recent cars such as the Renault 21 Superproduction, the history of the car is unrolled. There are also racing cars from Alpine, the Renault 4 CV, which won its class at Le Mans in 1951, and the Renault 5 Turbo.
Sporty everyday vehicles at Peugeot
Of course, Peugeot will also be showing an excerpt from its long history.
However, the Peugeot 204 Coupé, which was first shown in Paris in October 1966, is likely to attract particular attention. For 205 fans, a Roland Garros Cabriolet and a newer GTI will be on show.
Many other manufacturers will also be present to show their flagship models. And, of course, the major dealers are also expected. Lukas Hüni's stand is particularly worth seeing every year, and he will once again be showcasing unique cars in 2016. The aim is not so much to show vehicles that are currently for sale, but to present extraordinary creations from the history of the automobile.
Among others, a Bugatti 59, an Aston Martin DB 3S and a Jaguar XKSS will make eyes light up.
The Rétromobile Paris can be visited from February 3 to 7, 2016, further information can be found on the event's website.
