A little-known collection of 230 vintage cars in an unknown location in the Netherlands: Actually unimaginable. But true. Now this collection is coming under the hammer thanks to Galerie Aaldering in collaboration with Classic Car Auctions.
The collection ranges from the Lancia Aurelia Spider to the Mercedes-Benz 300S Roadster and the Alfa Romeo 2600 SZ, but also includes many exotic cars from Facel Vega, Talbot Lago and Matra.
The collection
Mr. Palmen started collecting special classic cars about forty years ago and placed them in three different locations, in two buildings and a church. The cars were kept in good condition and have withstood the test of time very well. The collection was hardly seen by anyone. Even the neighbors in the industrial area had no idea what was on display inside: "We've been at this location for about fifteen years and have regularly asked the owner if we could take a look inside, but it never came to a viewing," explained one resident.
Due to the circumstances, Mr. Palmen could no longer keep his collection, and Galerie Aaldering has recently become the owner of one of the largest barn find collections in the world.
The auction
The collection is located in Dordrecht, where the cars are housed. Galerie Aaldering will sell the collection via a large international online auction: "This barn find collection is truly a unique opportunity for car enthusiasts and collectors around the world to expand their collection," says Nico & Nick Aaldering of Galerie Aaldering. "We are delighted to be able to auction these cars through Classic Car Auctions and are excited to see how much interest there is in this wonderful collection."
The large Barnfind collection contains special and beautiful classics. It will soon be possible to place bids for various classic cars from Maserati, Lancia, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Aston Martin, BMW, Facel Vega and many more. It is unlikely that a collection of this caliber and in this condition will ever be seen again.
The collection will be auctioned online between May 19 and June 7, 2023. Viewings are possible from May 27 to 29, 2023.
