From September 12 to 22, 2019, the "IAA Heritage by Motorworld" will be launched for the first time at the IAA Cars in Frankfurt. With it, the Motorworld Group is creating a fascinating world of classic automobiles in the heart of the IAA - in the centrally located Hall 4.0 - and thus building a bridge between the roots of mobility and the future.
Mobile classics
The new format, which spans 11,000 square meters across the entire Hall 4.0, focuses exclusively on mobile classics, specialist high-end craftsmanship and corresponding service providers. Exhibitors of premium classic cars, classic sports cars and hypercars, youngtimers, limited editions and classic motorcycles will be present. In addition, suppliers from the fields of restoration and care, spare parts, accessories, lifestyle, watches, clothing, art, literature, etc. will also be presenting themselves.
Style icons and exotics at the IAA
Barbus Classic, for example, is bringing a large number of 1A-restored Mercedes-Benz classics to Frankfurt, including a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster - a sleek sports car that had many famous fans, such as Sophia Loren, Tony Curtis and Clark Gable. In 1957, the 300 SL Roadster, which could reach speeds of up to 250 km/h, had its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show. It was the successor to the already legendary 300 SL Gullwing and was technically very similar to the Coupé, albeit with improved driving characteristics. Only 1858 examples of this legend were built.
Among other things, Bockemühl Classic-Cars has a rare Jaguar Kougar Sport Special, a sports roadster from 1970, in its luggage. It is a special built on a Jaguar E-base and has an engine output of 265 hp. Only around 315 vehicles of this type were built in total, and only two factory-built Kougar Sports are currently known to exist in Germany.
Potomac Classics will also be presenting exceptional vehicles. The specialist for exotic vehicles will be presenting an Amphicar 770 from the 1960s and a GN Cycle Car from 1921, among others.
"Classic cars develop a very special appeal between new car models," says Meike Poweleit, Head of Trade Fairs & Events at Motorworld Group. "The smell of leather, the shine of chrome-plated parts, the sound of the engine, the elegant or sporty design - cars such as the Jaguar E-Type, the Porsche 356, the SL Pagoda or even the VW T1 evoke memories and are simply fun. With 'IAA Heritage by Motorworld', such classics can be experienced at the IAA this year and offer a fascinating glimpse into the history of individual mobility."
A magical hotspot in the style of the good old days
The "IAA Heritage by Motorworld" will be a magical hotspot: visitors will embark on a journey back in time to the good old days - with fascinating exhibits, a large pinch of lifestyle and artists who will roam the halls and entertain the audience with swing and jazz.
"Networking on the international stage of the IAA is also very important," explains Meike Poweleit. "We would be delighted if fans of historic mobility from all over the world would use the 'IAA Heritage by Motorworld' as a meeting place for petrolhead discussions about the rustiest hobby in the world and would like to welcome them to Hall 4.0."
