Driving is one of those things. It's great fun and the better you have a vehicle under control, the greater the fun factor. Modern cars are increasingly taking over the steering and braking from the driver, and autonomous driving is already a reality in some areas. Electronic aids such as ABS, ESP, ASR, etc. make it easier to move a car quickly, but also allow the reflexes that used to be trained over the years to lie dormant. The routine that used to be necessary for safe driving is disappearing.
However, we classic car and youngtimer drivers belong to a group of people who still want to safely control cars without these driving aids. These cars only respond to the driver's commands. You have to rethink things if, for example, you have only used modern vehicles throughout the winter.
The dormant reflexes need to be awakened again. Preferably in a safe and entertaining environment. A driving course that makes the limits of the vehicle, but also of the driver, clear so as not to be surprised by unexpected traffic situations in the future is just the thing. As it's much better to do this with like-minded people, we recommend taking part in the special driving course for historic vehicles on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Interlaken airfield in the heart of Switzerland.
Plenty of time to learn and practise
The course begins with the arrival of the pilots between 07:30 and 08:30. From 08:30, the theory is first summarized, then from 09:15 it goes to the practical exercises, which are interrupted by a good one-hour lunch break. At 17:15 the participants are given their diplomas.
Incidentally, there is not only braking, but also a lot of fast driving - after all, Joe Wyss has been an instructor on license courses for years.
Only road-legal vehicles
Only cars that comply with the applicable traffic regulations and are therefore registered may take part. Unfortunately, U-plates or racing cars cannot be considered.
Organized by connoisseurs
The course is run by the very friendly and well-trained team from Joe Wyss Driving Events with many years of experience. All the instructors know vehicles without electronic aids very well and can therefore respond to participants with old/young cars without any problems.
The price per person is CHF 290.00. Included are coffee and croissants in the morning, lunch, the diploma and liability insurance for CHF 5 million The entire infrastructure (around 500 pylons, 2 watering systems, track barriers, participant numbers, name labels for the participants, radios for one lesson) and personal supervision by two instructors per class are included.
The class size is limited to 12 vehicles. An inexpensive photo service is also available.
The course is completely safe for the vehicles; apart from minimal damage to the paintwork due to contact with pilons, nothing has ever happened in the 16-year history of Joe Wyss Driving Events.
