On Sunday, June 17, 2018, museum visitors and interested parties will have the opportunity to find out that Eastern European vehicle construction has more to offer than just Lada and Trabant. For the fourth time, the Technik Museum Sinsheim is inviting all means of transportation built on the other side of the Iron Curtain to the big Ostalgie get-together.
What began four years ago as a meeting to accompany the special exhibition "50 Years of the Simson Schwalbe" is now, thanks to many fans and participants as well as enthusiastic museum visitors, a fixed date in the events calendar of the Technik Museum Sinsheim. The Ostalgie meeting is becoming more and more popular every year. This is because visitors have the opportunity to find out how comfortable you can actually sit in a Trabant, how luxurious the Mercedes of the East, a Moskwitsch, is, that V8 engines were also installed in a Tatra, or that the two-stroke Simson Schwalbe sounds completely different to a Vespa. On the museum square, it is immediately apparent that these motorized treasures are more than just a means of transport - they are a way of life.
Whether Lada, GAS, MZ or Wartburg - the museum team is expecting numerous interest groups and hundreds of Eastern European vehicles again this year. "The event is now one of the largest eastern vehicle gatherings in southern Germany," says organizer Roland Boeuf. Anyone interested is welcome at the Ostalgie meeting - there is no entry fee. Only two conditions must be met: The two-, four- or even three-wheeler was built in the former Eastern Bloc countries and before 1990.
So if you want to marvel at rare vehicles, such as a Melkus RS 1000 GTR sports car, curiosities like a "Harley-Davidson Schwalbe" or the former state limousine of Leonid Brezhnev, make initial contacts, look around dealers or simply experience a great meeting, June 17, 2018 in Sinsheim is the right place for you.
