The engines are roaring again: from Friday to Sunday, October 5 to 7, 2018, the Jochpass Oldtimer Memorial will take place for the 20th time. As the last major event in the classic car year, the "Jochrennen" has become a permanent fixture for motorsport enthusiasts. In the anniversary year, younger model years are also allowed to take part than in previous years.
Ostrachtal Motorsport Festival
The hill climb to the Oberjoch was already a success in 1924 and today, after its revival in the form of a regularity test in 1999, it is a permanent fixture in the classic car event calendar. The large number of visitors and the ever-increasing number of participants prove that there is considerable interest in the Jochpass Memorial. Every year, thousands of visitors find their way to the route in the Ostrachtal valley to see the historic vehicles up close.
"Modern Classic"
Due to the great demand from participants with younger vehicles, the year of manufacture limit for the 20th anniversary extends to 1986. There will be a separate group called "Modern Classic" and a "Touring Car" group.
Over 100 bends
The Joch Pass between Bad Hindelang and Oberjoch is Germany's highest federal highway. It is also the most winding pass road in Germany. 6.4 km long, 400 meters difference in altitude and 105 bends. In the regularity test, the drivers set themselves a time before the start in which they want to complete the mountain route. They have the opportunity to do this over several runs.
Whoever is closest to this time at the end wins! On Saturday and Sunday, the Jochpass Memorial starts at 8.30 am and will last until around 6 pm. On the Friday before, the participants will arrive in Hindelang with their classic cars and have to pass the technical inspection.
Old, older, 1908
This time, the oldest motorcycle is an Imperia H Sport from 1928 with 23 hp. The oldest car even dates back to 1908, a Lion Peugeot Racing Voiturette.
Up the Joch in 3 minutes
Former racing drivers such as Fredy Amweg make guest appearances at the fairground in Oberjoch. Amweg has held the course record since 1986 with 3.08.26 minutes. Many participants with pre-war vehicles as well as youngtimers can also be seen in the paddock, Kurhaus and at the pre-start in Bad Hindelang. Catering will be provided everywhere with various stands. Naturally also at the start at the "Schnitzelalm" and in Oberjoch at the parking lot. This year's race parties will be held on Friday and Saturday from 8.00 pm in the "Schnitzelalm".
Vespa pirates board the Jochpass
On the right-hand side of the road, near the Kurhaus, the "Vespa-Pazzo Pirates" will be making a guest appearance this year. The scooter and Vespa club from Isny and the surrounding area will proudly display their vehicles from the 60s, 70s and 80s and chase the two-wheelers up the Jochpass. During the race breaks, GTC kart drivers also race along the winding track.
