The first Lucerne "beauty contest for automobiles" took place as early as 1928 and was held - with interruptions - until 1955. The highlight of each event was the presentation of the vehicles on the Nationalquai in Lucerne.
New in and around the Swiss Museum of Transport
On September 11, 2021, a "beauty contest for automobiles" will be held for the first time as the Concours d'Excellence International on the grounds of the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne. There is significantly more space there than previously on the Nationalquai, but the entire infrastructure of the Museum of Transport is also available.
Current categories
- Class A - Closed automobiles from 1920 to 1945
- Class B - Open cars from 1920 to 1945
- Class C - Open cars from 1945 to 1965
- Class D - Open cars from 1966 to 1990
- Class E - Closed cars from 1945 to 1965
- Class F - Closed cars from 1966 to 1990
- Class G - Special class (manufacturer, bodywork) from 1930 to 1990
The final definition of the categories and any additional classes will be communicated in the coming weeks.
Participants will be welcomed on September 10, 2021 at the Vekrehrshaus Lucerne and can take part in the supporting program and the welcome aperitif/dinner.
The actual Concours will then take place on Saturday, September 11, 2021. On Sunday, a drive will be organized for the participants, and the event will end at 14:00.
