Mathias Doutreleau is organizing the Concours d'Elégance Suisse in the park of Coppet Castle near Geneva for the third time. The event will take place again from June 22 to 24, 2018 and the theme this time is "From Modernity to Design".
Breitling and Julius Baer are on board as new sponsors and, for the first time, the Concours d'Elégance Suisse will also be present at the Geneva Motor Show, having already attracted attention at the Rétromobile in Paris with last year's Best of Show, an Avion Voisin.
The program is similar to that of 2017, with the 70 km Tour d'Elégance starting on Friday, the cars being judged in the park of the Château de Coppet on Saturday and the cars being open to the public on Sunday.
The classes were defined as follows for the 2018 version:
A-1 - 1920 - 1929, from Modernity to Design, open cars
A-2 - 1929 - 1929, from Modernity to Design, closed cars
A-3 - 1930 - 1939, from Modernity to Design, open cars
A-4 - 1930 - 1939, from Modernity to Design, closed cars
B-1 - Hispano-Suiza
C-1- Ferrari front engines
C-2 - Ferrari rear engines
D-1 - Swiss coachwork
D-2 - French coachwork
E-1 - 60th anniversary of the Aston Martin DB4
E-2 - 60th anniversary of the Ferrari 250 GT Coupé Pinin Farina
F-1 - 40th anniversary of the Paris-Dakar Rally
G-1 - Sports cars 1940 - 1970
G-2 - Sedan cars 1940 - 1970
H-1 - Futures classics, ultra luxury sedans 1970 - 1980
H-2 - Futures classics, ultra luxury sedans 1981 - 1985
I-1 - Motorcycles
The Hispano-Suizia class and the grouping with Swiss bodies are particular specialties of the Geneva Concours, but the Paris-Dakar cars and once again the future classics are sure to provide interesting discussions this year.
The jury will once again be chaired by Adolfo Orsi.
It will be interesting to see whether Matthias succeeds in having the very special Cadillac on the poster on site in June.
