The Classic Gala Schwetzingen is also prepared for numerous visitors in the second year of coronavirus and supports Covid19 precautions. Together with the 9th US Classic Car Concours USCCC, the 17th showcase of automotive history at Schwetzingen Palace is sure to delight classic car enthusiasts.
Extensive preparatory work has been carried out for the Internat. Concours d'Elégance ASC-Classic-Gala Schwetzingen, which gives visitors the opportunity to stroll along the timeline of automobile history in peace and quiet. Although the necessary precautionary measures make it necessary to comply with the 3G rule (vaccinated, recovered, tested), purchase tickets in advance and carry a face mask, once guests have started their suggested route along the wide avenues, nothing stands in the way of an enjoyable study of automotive history and the many trade offers.
"Walk on the right" is the most important motto, so that you don't get in each other's way when looking at the 160 car rarities from the period between 1890 and 1990; you stroll in one direction on one side and back on the other. And if you want to buy a hat, a book or an ice cream, there are waiting areas like in a retail store where you can wait your turn in peace.
A unique journey through automotive history
On the first weekend in September, the unique, circular baroque garden of Schwetzingen Palace will once again be the arena for an automotive journey through time with 160 selected classic vehicles from a wide range of eras in the order of their years of construction. Whether steam or electric cars, motorized coaches, small cars of the economic miracle or even state cars and clever individual developments - the Classic Gala shows how the automobile has developed over the last 120 years and how important design is for its success.

This time, the circular baroque park is celebrating, among other things, 100 years of the Maybach brand, whose first automobile was presented in 1921.

Similarly old is Carrozzeria Ghia, a design company that achieved worldwide fame with the VW Karmann Ghia.

The famous Jaguar E-Type is only 60 years old, but age is relative: anyone who admired this sports car as a 20-year-old at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1961 is 80 years old today - the car is a capsule of time travel in which grandchildren can experience the feeling of their grandfather.
World premiere of the "Wundercar Collection"
The passion for the four-door BMW E3 sedan led an enthusiast from Bad Homburg to create the "Wundercar Collection", which pays homage to the first modern BMW luxury sedan with unique pieces that are deliberately dedicated to the emotional experience.
The term "New Horizon" stands for an art car based on the BMW Art Cars, while the "California" rolls under "Elegance"the first and only full convertible of the BMW E3, the "Inka" in one of the most famous orange colors embodies the sports sedan and the Gr.1-racing car embodies motorsport - each area with special emotions.

The world premiere of the BMW E3-California and the Wundercar Collection are presented at the Hirschbrunnen.
The poster designer Hideo Kodama and his Corsaspider
Japanese designer Hideo Kodama, who designed the ASC-Classic-Gala Schwetzingen exhibition poster for the third time in 2021, was one of Opel's chief stylists for many years. During this time, he developed a small Spider based on the Opel Corsa, which inspired young people as a study. A little later, Bernd Michalak's Wiesbaden studio even built a mid-engined Corsaspider. Now you can get to know all three together: Hideo Kodama, honorary juror of the Classic Gala and poster designer, Bernd Michalak, today an exhibitor in the Kunstsaal, and the Opel Corsaspider with mid-engine.
Three charity events in the park
Auction of a "barn find of the decade" Mercedes 12/55 Mannheim in absolutely original condition in aid of Brustkrebs Deutschland e.V.; the Ahr-Automobilclub 1924 and the Zylinderhaus in Bernkastel both experienced the flood disaster first-hand and are collecting donations for those affected - the AOC is bringing along a flood victim classic car to support its cause. The vintage car fundraising campaign of Lebenshilfe Gießen will also be on site again.
110 years of Chevrolet
The theme of the 9th US Car Concours USCCC is 110 years of Chevrolet and there will also be American specialties among the road cruisers.
