Special show 75 years of Abarth
Born in Vienna on November 15, 1908, Karl (Carlo) Abarth's zodiac sign, Scorpio, would become famous in the automotive world.
The foundations for his outstanding career were laid by his apprenticeship as a motorcycle mechanic and his initial participation in bicycle races. In 1928, he founded his own motorcycle racing team and eventually switched to sidecar racing, where he recorded his greatest triumph, winning against the "Orient Express" with his own design.
In 1949, the "Abarth" company was founded in Bologna. In addition to the racing community, which produced numerous great drivers, and the development of racing and sports accessories, Abarth was extremely successful in designing sports and racing cars.
Carlo Abarth, a great racing driver, ingenious designer and outstanding businessman, died on October 24, 1979 under the sign of the scorpion that still adorns his cars today.
At Classic Expo 2024, the special show "75 Years of Abarth" is dedicated to the Italian with Austrian roots and features various vehicle models as well as a photo exhibition.
Special exhibition 60 years of the Mercedes Benz 600
The Mercedes-Benz 600 was Daimler-Benz's luxury-class vehicle in the 1960s and 1970s. The 600 was built in various body styles such as the saloon, the Pullman saloon and the Landaulet. Development of the W100 began in the mid-1950s and a total of 2,677 units were built between 1964 and 1981.
The W100 has the M100 with a displacement of 6.3 liters and 184 kW or 250 hp. The so-called comfort hydraulics were used to adjust the front or rear seats, lower or raise the windows or even open or close the sunroof. The great advantage of the hydraulic drive compared to electric actuators is the almost silent drive.
The equipment options included various woods in the interior, velour or leather for the seats, a cooling compartment or even a car telephone.
The 60th birthday of the W100 will be celebrated at the Classic Expo 2024.
