Spring is coming! So why not buy a new classic from sunny Spain? Because at Catawiki's current classic car auction, which runs until March 6, 2023, a striking number of the 30 vehicles on offer come from the Iberian Peninsula.
Spain, Spain, Spain
Three of them were even built there. One of them is the Santana 109 Diesel, a licensed version of the English Land Rover, which is being offered second-hand and, according to experts, can be expected to fetch between 8250 and 9500 euros.
The second Spaniard in the range is considerably more expensive: the Authi Mini Cooper 1300, whose English role model should be relatively clear. The poison green dwarf is said to be in good condition and has been estimated at 20,000 to 22,000 euros.
The third and cheapest car on offer, on the other hand, is an Italian example of Spanish licensed production: the small Seat 600 D from 1966, which belonged to its first owner in Barcelona until 2005, is expected to fetch just 5600 to 6200 euros. It is the cheapest car in the auction.
Expensive tractor
A Chevrolet Corvette from 1978 is even said to be first-hand. The "Pace Car Edition" with the look of the Indy 500 safety car was delivered to its first owner in California in 1979 and was only recently imported to Europe by a dealer. Between 26,500 and 29,500 euros are expected for the C3 with the blue license plates.
According to estimates, the most expensive lot at the auction is not a car, but a tractor. Between 55,000 and 60,500 euros will be called for a rare Hürlimann D 150 S from 1967. The most expensive car is a Land Rover Defender 110 2.5 TDI Station Wagon for 31,000 to 34,500 euros. Built in 1993, it is also the youngest vehicle on offer.
Many Brits
The two oldest cars in the auction follow close behind in terms of price: the Jaguar 3.8 Litre Mark II from 1961 and the Ford Fairlane Town Sedan from 1957 are expected to fetch between 17,500 and 31,000 euros each.
Friends of English roadsters have the choice between a very well-kept, allegedly unrestored Triumph TR6 from 1974 and a 1980 Triumph Spitfire 1500, which needs a little more care. Those interested in MGB also have the choice between a chrome model from 1969 and a rubber boat from 1977.
The Morris Minor Traveller from 1967 is even more British, albeit less open. The restored, two-tone painted estate car with the half-timbered rear is located in Madrid and is said to be worth between 15,400 and 17,000 euros.
The estimated prices of most of the offers are in the range between 15,000 and 20,000 euros. All 30 vehicles, including descriptions and many more pictures, can be found on Catawiki.
