It was a difficult decision: just a few days ago, Messe Bremen had to cancel the Bremen Classic Motorshow as an in-person event for the second time in a row. However, Frank Ruge's team has resumed planning after the shock of the cancellation - and it is now certain that a two-hour, exciting online event will take place on Saturday, February 5, 2022.
"For the 20th anniversary of the Bremen Classic Motorshow, we would like to thank our exhibitors and visitors for their years of loyalty with an entertaining anniversary program," says Frank Ruge. The project manager will present the program live as a duet with classic car expert Johannes Hübner - as he did for the online event in February 2021.
Online event features special show "Biedermann & Brandstifter" and "Two and four-stroke"
Viewers can look forward to online versions of the topics originally planned for the in-person show: automotive historian Wolfgang Blaube will present the special show topic "Biedermann & Brandstifter" planned for 2022 in his usual eloquent, cheeky and competent manner using three powerful arsonists. The so-called "Porsche killers" impress above all with powerful steam under the hood and put the engineers in Zuffenhausen under a lot of pressure at the time.
Fans of two-wheelers will also get their money's worth: motorcycle historian Andy Schwietzer will comment on two polarizing pairs from the PS.Depot motorcycle of PS.Speicher from Einbeck. He will show why two-stroke and four-stroke motorcycles have enlivened the scene for decades in all cubic capacity classes and all vehicle types and nations, and why they have always found staunch supporters who sometimes changed camps.
Also included: half a dozen selected young classics that have been inspected by TÜV-Süd and are available for purchase. One or two enthusiasts will break out in a sweat: Should they buy or stay in their armchair for the sake of family peace?
For the absolute nostalgics, journalist and classic car expert Christian Steiger has a few very rare representatives in his sights: under the slogan "Red List of Everyday Cars", he presents formerly popular, mass-produced cars that are hardly ever seen on the roads today.
Workshop for young talent and classics "Made in Bremen"
There is a lot of discussion in the scene about promoting young talent, but it is rarely actively pursued. With a workshop on one of the youngtimer station wagons that are particularly popular with younger classic car fans, the Classic Motorshow team is providing a new impetus here. The Classic Motorshow team tackles the issue using the example of a classic car station wagon popular among younger classic car fans.
Speaking of "tackling": Mercedes began producing cars "Made in Bremen" as early as 1978 - and Mercedes set a very sustainable example of this back in 1978 with the start of production of cars "Made in Bremen". To mark the 40th anniversary of the 190 baby Benz (W201), a film about the successful model will be shown. TÜV-Süd will also venture a look into the future in a panel of experts: is there an alternative to e-mobility so that we can continue to drive our classic cars in the future?
"It will be a varied, interactive and informative entertainment show," promises Claudia Nötzelmann, Head of Special Interest and Trade Fairs at Messe Bremen. As in the previous year, classic car fans can follow the online event free of charge and without registration on the Bremen Classic Motorshow website. After the live stream on Saturday, February 5, 2022, the individual contributions will be available on the website until May 1.
Bremen Classic Motorshow: second online event in a row
The Bremen Classic Motorshow traditionally marks the start of the new classic car season. More than 700 exhibitors and around 45,000 visitors usually meet here every year to exchange ideas, talk shop and negotiate. This is the second time in a row that the classic car fair has been held online due to the coronavirus. At the last digital event, the trade fair organizers recorded around 30,000 views.
Next year, the Bremen Classic Motorshow should have taken place from Friday to Sunday, February 4 to 6, 2022, at Messe Bremen. Instead, there will now be an online event on Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Further information on the virtual Bremen Classic Motorshow can be found on the event website.
