Now it's getting exciting. Classic car fans should reserve a few hours for their passion on Saturday, February 6, 2021. The organizers of the Bremen Classic Motorshow are offering an online event from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., kicking off the classic car season as usual, albeit digitally due to the coronavirus.
"The event consists of two pillars," explains project manager Frank Ruge at Messe Bremen. "One is an online marketplace for vehicles, parts and automobilia and the other is a varied, entertaining and informative program with vehicle presentations, specialist lectures, introductions and more."
The Bremen Classic Motorshow team has prepared key parts of the trade fair in digital form for the live stream. Interested parties can follow the event free of charge and without registration via the event website from the comfort of their own couch. Viewers will be interactively involved in all program items directly via the website by having their questions answered via chat or viewer telephone (+49 (0)421 3505 - 525). The current program will be available on the website from next week. Ruge will host the event together with Johannes Hübner, journalist, winner of the "Golden Piston 2017" award and classic car veteran.
With vehicle and parts trade until May 1, 2021
The vehicle and parts exchange is of course not only available on February 6. The organizers of the Bremen classic car fair are giving their exhibitors the opportunity to post several advertisements with offers for sale free of charge on the online marketplace and at the same time offer visitors the opportunity to go bargain hunting online. "Our online marketplace is not intended to compete with other well-known online platforms, but rather to provide an opportunity to browse," says Ruge.
The advertisements and the other content of the online format will remain available on the website after the event until May 1 - unless the vehicles and parts are sold.
"Young classics" also in online format
Two other typical elements of the Bremen presence trade fair are the TÜV-approved "Young Classics" and the representatives of the "Young Generation", cars from the 70s to 90s. Three cars from each category will be presented at the online event. Classic car fans can buy the vehicles online.
Special show: A foretaste of the 2022 anniversary edition
Now it's getting emotional: classic car fans can look forward to two pairs of the special show "Biedermann & Brandstifter" originally planned for the 2021 presence fair: a Renault 5 and Renault 5 Turbo as well as a Mercedes-Benz 190 and Mercedes-Benz 190 Evo.
"Here we continue the highly praised theme of 'rivals' from 2020. However, not between brands, but within a brand, a type, you could say: between automotive brothers," says Ruge. There will also be a small preview of the factory racing motorcycles from DKW and NSU.
Both special shows, "Biedermann & Brandstifter" for the cars and "German Champion - European Champion - World Champion" for the motorcycles, will be on display at the trade fair in February 2022 with many exhibits.
Award ceremony
The "Golden Piston 2021" will also be awarded as part of the online event. Since 2006, the Forum for Vehicle History, better known as F-kubik, has been honoring a personality at the Bremen Classic Motorshow who has made a special contribution to the historical authenticity of vehicle history through their work. This year's award goes to museum and exhibition designer Matthias Kaluza.
The program will be rounded off with a talk on market observation and trends for 2021, an expert lecture on contemporary tuning of the 70s, 80s and 90s as well as presentations of special cars and motorcycles such as a Maybach DS8.such as a Maybach DS8 Zeppelin, one of the dream cars of the 1930s, and an exotic Fiat 850 T Bertone Visitor Bus, from which Pope John Paul II is said to have waved to the faithful.
