61 cars from 28 brands with an average age of 56 years will be auctioned by Bonhams on September 6, 2020 at the first event of its kind at Museum Autoworld in Brussels.
The total value of the cars, plus a few motorcycles and automobilia, is EUR 6.54 million, or EUR 107,000 per car. 31 percent of the cars will be auctioned without a reserve price.
Wide range of brands
28 car brands are represented in Brussels, with Jaguar being the most represented with ten vehicles, followed by Mercedes-Benz with six and Porsche with five. Among the car manufacturers represented are some that are hardly ever seen anymore, such as Delaunay-Belleville, Berliet, Peerless and Simca.
Pre-war Mercedes-Benz as figureheads
The two most valuable vehicles are two Mercedes-Bez built before the Second World War.
While the 380 K as a Cabriolet B from 1934 was estimated at EUR 625,000 to 285,000, the 630K Sports Tourer from 1928 as a two-time Alpine Ride Gold Medal winner is asking EUR 600,000 to 900,000.
As many as ten cars date from the pre-war period, including a Berliet from 1912 and a Fiat 12/15hp Tipo 1a Torpedo from 1913, both of which are being auctioned without a reserve price.
Small cars ...
Also on offer in Brussels are a number of micro and small cars, such as an Autobianchi Bianchina convertible from 1961, a BMW Isetta 300 and a Fiat 500 TV Giannini from 1968.
The Fiat 600 Multipla from 1959 could also be counted among the small cars, as could the Austin-Healey Sprite as a frog's eye from 1958.
Another very compact car is the MG J2 from 1933, a restored and supercharged sports car that will go under the hammer for EUR 60,000 to 70,000.
... and big cars
With three Cadillacs, the luxury brand from the USA certainly has an above-average presence.
On offer are a Series 62 Sedan from 1948, its Series 62 Convertible from 1959 and an Eldorado Biarritz Convertible from 1961.
Some super classics
Of course, the super classics are not missing either.
Six Jaguar E-Types, three of which are Series 1, come under the hammer in Brussels, with estimates ranging from EUR 70,000 to 180,000.
An XKSS Replica, estimated at EUR 250,000 to 350,000, is expected to be even more expensive.
Two Facel Vega coupés represent France's luxury GT manufacturer. These are an FV2 from 1956 and an HK 500 from 1961, with estimates ranging from EUR 125,000 to 205,000.
And then there is a Maserati Mistral coupé from 1966 (EUR 110,000 to 150,000) as well as a whole range of Porsche models for sale.
The BMW Z8 is even more of a neo-super classic. Bonhams can offer an example from 2001 for EUR 140,000 to 180,000.
There are also two Ferraris on the lot list, a 365 GT4 2+2 from 1975 and an F355 Spider.
Also worth mentioning is the Mazda Cosmo with Wankel engine from 1968, which is listed in the catalog for EUR 60,000 to 90,000.
Rarities
Only 325 Peerless GT sports cars were built around 60 years ago. Chassis GT2-00198 is one of only 70 left-hand drive examples.
These sports cars have a plastic body and use a Triumph TR3 engine. You could even race it at Goodwood or Le Mans, so EUR 40,000 to 60,000 for this 2+2 coupé, which is described as being in good condition, certainly sounds interesting.
Original Darl'Mat roadsters based on the Peugeot 402 are almost unaffordable today. The 1938 Peugeot 402 Légère 'Darl'Mat' roadster on offer is not an original, but was created in modern times by reproducing the shape designed by Georges Paulin.
At EUR 170,000 to 200,000, it is significantly cheaper than the original and probably doesn't even cover the cost of rebuilding.
The offer is therefore versatile and worth a closer look. More about the individual vehicles and many photos can be found on the Bonhams website.
