For the second time, Bonhams is organizing an auction on the premises of Autoworld in Brussels. In addition to 61 cars, there are also motorcycles, a boat and many automobiles (including some by Jacques Swater) for sale, the offer is extensive and comprises 139 lots.
The 61 cars are on average around 48 years young, with a wide range of years of manufacture from 1922 to 2016.
Two thirds of the vehicles are offered without a reserve price, a high proportion for a European auction. An average of EUR 134,153 is expected per vehicle.
Mercedes-Benz and Porsche in the lead
13 of the vehicles on offer are from Mercedes-Benz; on average, they are just 29 years young, which is also linked to some neo-classics from Sindelfingen. Porsche is the second most frequently represented with nine years and an average age of 38 years.
Six Aston-Martins with an average age of 47 years and five Jaguars with an average age of 64 years complete the most strongly represented brands.
At the other end of the spectrum, there are also manufacturers that are no longer active, such as Delage, DeSoto and Willys. A total of 26 car brands are represented.
Super classics ...
Around half of the range can be qualified as so-called "super classics".
Cars such as an Alfa Romedo Spider from 1966 (EUR 50,000 to 70,000) can be found here, but a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster from 1961 (EUR 1.15 to 1.4 million) or a Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 from 1964 (EUR 170,000 to 230,000) naturally also belong in this category.
The red Lamborghini 400 GT from 1968, estimated at EUR 270,000 to 350,000, also looks very elegant.
The Aston Martin DB4 from 1961 (EUR 350,000 to 450,000), the Facel Vega Facel II from 1964 (EUR 80,000 to 140,000) and the Maserati Mexico from 1971 (EUR 50,000 to 80,000) are also sure to be of interest.
For Bully enthusiasts, there is the sought-after VW T1 Samba with 21 windows from 1965 (EUR 95,000 to 135,000).
Of course, Porsche is not missing in this segment either, with two original 911s, two 993s, a 930 Turbo, a 914/6.
... and racing cars
A handful of racing cars that will go under the hammer in Brussels are in a completely different category.
For example, you can bid for a Cougar C02 Group 2 from 1983 (Factory Replica) or a pure Rondeau M482 from 1983. Also interesting are the two Formula 1 cars from Tyrrell and Copersucar (!).
Some youngtimers
For youngtimer fans, there is a rare Alfa Romeo 164 3.0 V6 24 V Q4 from 1995 (EUR 25,000 to 35,000) or a Ferrari 456 GT from 1995 (EUR 40,000 to 60,000) but also a Mercedes-Benz 300 CE 3.4 AMG as a convertible from 1993 (EUR 120,000 to 180,000) for sale.
Off-road fans could also take a look at the Mercedes-Benz G 350 TD from 1994 as a convertible (EUR 60,000 to 80,000).
And some exotics
Of course, Bonhams can also offer some cars at Autoworld that you don't find at auction every day.
The four pre-war cars in the auction should certainly be mentioned here, e.g. the Delage 11 CV Torpedo from 1922, the Talbot 14745 HP Type AG from 1929 or the Mercedes-Benz 170 H from 1938.
The DeSoto Fireflite Convertible from 1955 or the Ford V8 Super Deluxe Sportsman as a Woodie convertible from 1947 also certainly have exotic status.
So there is something for almost everyone, and since most of the cars are sold without a minimum price, it can be cheaper than expected.
Further information on the individual cars and many photos can be found on the Bonhams website.
