Was everything better in the past? No, but many things were good. And so, following the successful reissue of the "Blaupunkt Bremen" for classic cars, car multimedia expert Blaupunkt is now also bringing back the popular DIN 1 car radio "Blaupunkt Frankfurt RCM 82" (not only) for youngtimers. Packed with many innovative features, the new edition of the 90s classic "Frankfurt RCM 82 DAB" impresses as a powerful-sounding retro model with the blue dot.

Unique selling points of the 90s model combined with new technologies
The original "Blaupunkt Frankfurt" dates back to 1992 and, with its intuitive operating concept, simple design and crystal-clear reception, made for many entertaining car journeys. Blaupunkt has therefore adopted the iconic design of the original model for the new edition. At the same time, the radio has been given a future-proof transformation with modern vario-color illumination for the buttons and the two-line display.

Thanks to the Blaupunkt Codem IV FM RDS and DAB+ tuner, the new youngtimer radio also remains true to its strengths in terms of sound quality. In addition to receiving FM, AM, DAB and DAB+ signals, the radio also has traffic prioritization and an automatic station memory function. When it comes to sound, the "Frankfurt RCM 82 DAB" also leaves no contemporary demands unfulfilled and offers digital signal processing as well as a 2 x 14-band equalizer, various sound presets, a 4-channel preamplifier with subwoofer output and 4 x 50 watts of output power.

Many new features
The cassette compartment is still an integral part of the radio. Today, however, it is only a design element that conceals USB, AUX and microSD interfaces behind its flap. The hero of the 90s plays music wirelessly via Bluetooth and supports Twin Connect. As a hands-free system, the radio can also be used to make phone calls or access the smartphone's voice assistants. This transforms the radio into a modern and smart media player that plays all common formats and bears the "Made for iPhone/iPod" label.
Blaupunkt also continues to rely on clearly understandable buttons and a clear menu for the operating concept. For example, it is possible to access all audio sources via direct access. This is where simplicity meets functionality. All settings are, of course, saved permanently even when the battery is disconnected. Thanks to its short installation depth, the radio is ideal for youngtimers with shortened installation bays.

For a perfect journey through time, Blaupunkt has not only brought the car radio itself from the 90s into the here and now. The packaging of the device has also been elaborately designed and modeled on the original. The "Frankfurt RCM 82 DAB" is now available at a recommended retail price of 499 euros at bpautomotive.de, from specialist dealers and in various online stores.
