The Bernina Gran Turismo hill climb was one of the few events in 2020 that took place against all odds. In glorious weather, a completely full starting field was able to climb the mountain race course. Thanks to the Corona protection concept, which was even praised by officials and was implemented excellently thanks to the understanding support of all those involved on site, the event was hardly affected at all. Only a few participants from other countries (e.g. UK, India, Australia, USA) had to cancel their participation due to travel restrictions.
Numerous events have already been postponed again this year, causing some major disruption to the usual calendar of events. The Bernina Gran Turismo mountain race is not one of them, but will take place from September 16 to 19, 2021, as decided two years ago. The registration documents have been online since Christmas 2020, the registration deadline is May 30, 2021.
Paraphrasing an old racing proverb, the organizers say: "When the flag drops (at Bernina) the virus stops!
