On Saturday, April 21, 2018, the third delegates' meeting of the SHVF (Swiss Historic Vehicle Federation) took place at the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne with almost 100 delegates. Many arrived by classic car thanks to the beautiful early summer weather.
All the regular items on the agenda were approved without much discussion. The meeting approved the contribution of CHF 20,000 to IgFS (Interessengemeinschaft Fahrzeugrestauratoren Schweiz) by a large majority. This money will be used to translate the course documentation into French. There are also plans to train vehicle restorers in French-speaking Switzerland in the future.
Change in the presidency
The SHVF emerged in 2015 from the merger of the two former umbrella organizations FSVA (Féderation Suisse des Véhicules Anciens) and Swiss Oldtimers, which was not entirely uncontroversial at the time. After three years, there was now a planned change in the presidency and the election of two new board members. The President, Lukas Oberholzer, and Rene Berset, Finance and Representative for French-speaking Switzerland, did not stand for re-election.
The delegates elected Bernhard Taeschler, who was previously responsible for culture and politics on the Board of Directors, as the new President.
Jacques Le Coultre, President of VCCSR (Vétéran Car Club Suisse Romand) and Stefan Wyss, President of FAM (Friends of Old Motorcycles), joined the Board. The delegates confirmed all other current Board members for a further term of office.
Important task
The SHVF umbrella organization is committed to ensuring that the concerns of owners of historic vehicles are taken into account, both technically and politically. The vehicles of yesterday must also be able to travel on the roads of tomorrow. This is why the SHVF is also one of 30 sponsoring associations that are supporting the current year "#CulturalHeritage2018" and highlighting it with several events.
