If you own a sporty classic car and would like to take on the challenge of the 76 bends between Langwies and Arosa once (or again), you still have just under a month to register for the Arosa ClassicCar hill climb. This will take place for the 15th time in Graubünden (Switzerland) from August 29 to September 1, 2019.
The right category for everyone
There are five categories, namely regularity (Classic & Sport Trophy), competition (Standard & Formula) and a demonstration class (Alpine Performance). This means that every participant can choose for themselves whether they prefer to drive for the best time or to adhere to standard times. The Competition categories are of course reserved for licensed vehicles.
You can also take part without a racing license; a normal driver's license is sufficient for the Alpine Performance and Demonstration classes. For other categories, a day license can be purchased from Auto Sport Switzerland. The race secretary Sandra Kamber knows what to do.
Entry fee covers all expenses except hotel
The race takes place over three days, twice on each day. On Friday are the practice runs, on Saturday and Sunday the four race runs. Drivers have a covered stand in the paddock, which also includes security.
Meals (lunch and dinner) are also organized by the organizer. The rustic race dinner on Saturday evening is legendary.
In addition, there is the opportunity to take part in the village parade on Thursday evening and a classic car driver's sweater, as well as other benefits. The entry fee is CHF 1500.00.
Unique
The Arosa ClassicCar hill climb is not something special for nothing. 76 bends have to be completed on a 7.3 km hill climb with a downhill section, with the finish at 1750 m above sea level. Professional track safety and timekeeping are guaranteed.
Up to 20,000 spectators attend the race, which is one of the few that still allows unlimited speeds.
