This year, BMW Group Classic will be represented in a variety of ways at Retro Classics in Stuttgart. From April 21 to 24, 2022, visitors to Hall 7 can expect both a glimpse into the past and a link between history and the present.
At the BMW Group Classic stand, the BMW 1602 Elektro from 1972, the Olympic marathon runners' lead car at the time and the first officially used electric car from Munich, looks into the eyes of a current BMW i4 eDrive40 Gran Coupé. In addition to the alternative drive, the i4 wears the "Inka" color of its ancestor, which is quite unusual from today's perspective, in order to build another bridge between history and the present.
The 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH, formerly BMW Motorsport GmbH, will also play a prominent role at Retro Classics in Stuttgart. Among other things, the legendary BMW 3.0 CSL will be on display as a racing coupé. The homologation model laid the foundation for the development of the sportiest Munich models.
The official BMW and Mini clubs will also be present with a large number of historic vehicles. In addition to "50 years of BMW M", the central themes of the club members' vehicle exhibition will also be the anniversaries of "50 years of the BMW 5 Series" and "20 years of the New Mini Cooper S".
To mark the 20th anniversary of the market launch of the (New) Mini Cooper S, fans of the British compact powerhouse will also be able to marvel at a Mini Cooper S Challenge driven by Alessandro Zanardi, who competed in the 2005 Special Guest Race as part of the Mini United 2005 in Misano.
Similar to previous trade fair appearances at other locations, BMW Group Classic Parts Sales and the Historical Documentation Center will also be happy to answer visitors' questions in Stuttgart.
Further information about Retro Classics 2022 can be found on the official website of the trade fair.
