Berlin, September 26, 2018 - The countdown is on. Next week, from October 4 to 7, 2018, the doors will open to the fourth Motorworld Classics. Exciting vehicles and prominent people with many stories await visitors on site. Below are the program highlights.
BMW Group Classic presents BMW Art Car by Andy Warhol
In 1979, the American pop artist Andy Warhol created his fastest work. A 470 hp BMW M1 in racing version served as his "canvas". He actually wanted to paint it in just five minutes, but it took a few more. The racing sports car - designed "in the style of an abstract impressionist with fields of rainbow colors" according to Warhol - then made its way to Le Mans, where it finished sixth.
Now the rolling work of art can be seen at Motorworld Classics Berlin. BMW Group Classic is presenting it in the center of Hall 18, and it is already a tradition for the automobile manufacturer to exhibit particularly exclusive vehicles in the capital. The BMW Art Car by Andy Warhol follows the classic Mini by David Bowie presented in 2016 and the BMW 507 by Elvis Presley shown in 2017. This year, the BMW M1 was chosen because the iconic sports car is celebrating its 40th birthday.
"Schulz meets Schulz"
With ex-professional boxer Axel Schulz, Motorworld Classics Berlin is welcoming a real heavyweight to the "Long Night of Classic Cars" on October 4. In conversation with project manager and scene expert Ulf Schulz, he will talk about his charitable commitment to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and look for his dream car along the way. When and where? "Schulz meets Schulz" at 7 pm at the Palais am Funkturm, followed by an autograph session.
Panel discussion: The classic car of tomorrow
One of the highlights of this year's Motorworld Classics Berlin is the panel discussion "Classic Cars and the Future", which will take place in cooperation with Auto Bild Klassik on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at 1.30 p.m. in the Palais am Funkturm. Eight classic car experts from different generations will look to the future. The discussion will focus on the prospects, potential and opportunities of the future classic car market.
MotorTalk with "The 3 with Willy"
15,000 km through the USA in a Wartburg - Jörg Tissat and Frank Lucas recently took on this very special charity challenge. From June 15 to August 6, they drove from the East Coast to the West Coast of the USA and back again in a 1957 Wartburg W311 Camping. The adventure was prompted by two anniversaries: 120 years ago, the first Wartburg motor car left the production halls in Eisenach and 60 years ago, the first Wartburg was exported to the USA. The two named their car after the American dealer Willard "Willy" Witkin. Now it is to be auctioned off to the highest bidder for the benefit of various children's aid projects. But before that, they will be reporting on their adventurous tour at Motorworld Classics Berlin. MotorTalk with "Die 3 mit Willy", Friday and Sunday, 2 p.m. each day, at the Palais am Funkturm.
Heidi Hetzer presents her new book

Into the limelight: with the first "Concours de Nonchalance" on Saturday, October 6, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Motorworld Classics Berlin, in cooperation with Auto Bild Klassik, is offering young drivers a stage. 25 young classic car drivers, who together with their vehicles are no more than 60 years old, will take part in the premiere and exhibit their youngtimers and classic cars (built in 1998 and earlier) in the summer garden by the fountain in front of the Palais am Funkturm. A jury will select the winners of the first "Concours de Nonchalance". The award ceremony for the winning vehicles will take place at 4 p.m. in the Palais.
Style Contest: The best look
Nostalgia is the order of the day at Motorworld Classics Berlin - and that includes the wardrobe. The entire trade fair team is dressed in style and if the public also appears in the look of the "Good Old Times", they can even win something. A "Style Contest" awaits visitors in Hall 18. The best and most nostalgic outfits will be captured there by a photographer. The matching hairstyle can be created directly on site thanks to selected hair specialists.
Powerful and charming
Emotional, sophisticated and funny - these artists take visitors on a journey through time at Motorworld Classics Berlin: DIE LADYs present songs such as 'Bei mir bist Du scheen' or 'Mr. Sandman'. The Rufus Temple Orchestra from Berlin will take you back to the Roarin' Twenties. And the three amusing and lovable "Herr'n von der Tankstelle" bring the golden age back to life with nostalgic charm, entertaining with catchy tunes such as "Veronika, der Lenz ist da" or "Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus". What's more, visitors may well come across the Captain of Köpenick.
