A stamp was dedicated to the sporty Bavarian to mark the 50th anniversary of the BMW 02 series.
The legendary BMW 02 series was born in 1966. As legends have always been immortalized on stamps, 99 Rodeo Drive had an exclusive collector's stamp issued by the German postal service to mark the 50th anniversary.
The self-adhesive postage stamp with a postage value of 70 cents for a standard letter is decorated with an original cartoon by the well-known French artist BOD, whose work is published by media around the world. His witty illustration perfectly expresses the wild young life at the wheel of a BMW 02. When things got really wild in the past - on the way to the Nürburgring Nordschleife, for example - it was not uncommon for a driver who bit a little too hard on the steering wheel to sweep around the bend on just two wheels.
As a tribute to the top models of the 02 series, collector's folding cards with two "02 since 1966" stamps on the inside will only be issued in exactly 2002. The rare stamps are available online on the "99 Rodeo Drive" website. Each collector's card with two stamps costs 10 euros including postage.
