On April 27, Broad Arrow Auctions, in cooperation with "Air|Water and Luftgekühlt" in California, will auction 56 Porsches and one RUF as well as some automobilia. Together, the cars are worth around USD 29 million.
Relatively young
On average, the sports and racing cars are 35 years old. They were valued at an average of USD 508,000, with a quarter (primarily the cheaper offers) going under the hammer without a reserve price. A 911 from 1989 (USD 75,000 to 100,000) is estimated to be the cheapest.
Mainly 911s
The range is made up of 41 911s and 911 modifications, seven 356s and nine other products from Zuffenhausen, including a 914, a 944 and a 928.
The flounder as the highlight
The most valuable car in the auction is a Porsche 908/02 Longtail Spyder from 1969, which won its class in 1970 and came third overall in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Chassis 908/02-005 was a works car and is now being offered restored to its 1970 Le Mans configuration for USD 4.75 to 5.75 million.
The "Flounder" is not the only racing car on offer; a 934 Turbo RSR from 1976 is also looking for a new owner for USD 750,000 to 950,000.
And the Porsche 962 IMSA from 1986 would also like to return to the pit lane for USD 600,000 to 800,000.
Three generations of super sports cars
With a Porsche 959 from 1988 (USD 2.1 to 2.4 million), ...
... a 2005 Carrera GT (USD 1.4 to 1.6 million) and a 2015 918 Spyder (USD 2.7 to 3.2 million) together with a 1996 911 GT2 (USD 1.7 to 2 million) cover the super and hyper sports car segment.
The classics
Of course, there is no shortage of interesting classics on offer at BAA in Costa Mesa.
For example, one of 30 Porsche 356 Carrera 2 Cabriolets built in 1964, which is looking for a new garage for USD 750,000 to 900,000. Or a 356 A Speedster from 1957 for USD 325,000 to 375,000.
Among the many 911s there are also many super classics, but also unusual examples.
