In 2022, Auto Zürich will certainly be the largest motor show in Switzerland, taking place for the 35th time. Yesterday, November 9, 2022, was the preview; from today, November 10 to 13, 2022, the trade fair will be open to all visitors.
Several premieres were celebrated, starting with the company Sportec with the "Ferdinand". Sportec is now also at the start with a "RetroMod" and "Backdating" project.
Ferdinand is a Porsche 964 that looks like an F-model/RS, but is also intended to be enjoyed in everyday life. To achieve this, a lot of modern technology and a six-cylinder boxer engine, bored out and optimized to 3.8 liters, were installed. Plastic was largely dispensed with, so many interior parts had to be redesigned and replaced with aluminum parts, for example.
The conversion is expected to cost over 300,000 francs, not including the donor vehicle. The Ferdinand on display, which weighs just under 1.2 tons, was completed just in time for Auto Zürich, but the chassis has yet to be fine-tuned. Marcel Fässler, who was also present at Auto Zürich, will be responsible for this.
Even more revelations
Three floors below, shortly after the Ferdinand, the Honda Civic Type R was also unveiled, a European premiere. Lotus showed the all-electric four-door SUV Eletre (Type 132). And the Emira is not missing in Zurich either. The brand-new Ferrari 296 GTB will also be on show in Zurich, as will the latest hypercars from Pagani and Koenigsegg.
But there are also more traditional fare such as the Microlino to be admired in Zurich-Oerlikon, inviting visitors to try out the seats.
There's plenty of new things to see in the beautifully draped new car area at Auto Zürich, but of course there are also lots of familiar ones.
Special show 75 years of Ferrari
For classic car enthusiasts, the first port of call is of course "Auto Zürich Classic" Hall 6, in the middle of which the special show on 75 years of Ferrari organized by Niki Hasler can be admired.
Cars from all eras, road and racing vehicles, provide an overview of the work of Enzo Ferrari and his successors.
Who's who of classic car dealers
The major Swiss classic car specialists present cars from their stock on beautifully designed stands with a uniform look. Anyone who loves old cars can hardly get enough of the classics.
The spectrum ranges from the former bread-and-butter car Fiat 500 to the Connaught Monoposto once driven by Stirling Moss and others.
The 35th Auto Zürich in Oerlikon is open until Sunday, November 13, 2022. Further information is also available on the Auto Zürich website.
