Bonhams, the international auction house renowned for selling rare and important collector cars in some of the world's most prestigious locations, is bringing its expertise to the growing classic car and affordable classic car market with the launch of Bonhams MPH.
Bonhams MPH will operate as a separate entity within the Bonhams brand and will be led by Rob Hubbard, who is relocating from the New Bond Street division. Bonhams MPH will be based at Bicester Heritage, where Bonhams will hold four drive-through sales per year to serve the growing market for modern and much-loved classics.
The debut event will take place on September 26, 2019 and MPH will host on-site valuation and photography days on the last Friday of each month from July 26, where potential sellers can show and discuss their cars with the team.
Already confirmed is a collection of EX-SAS and military Land Rovers, including two of 20 remaining 'Pink Panthers', as well as a trio of Renault fast hatchback compacts.
The Bonhams MPH service will include a simple online consignment process, providing both sellers and buyers with an efficient way to sell or buy a car through the new MPH portal - a first for Bonhams.
Sellers will be guided by a user-friendly step-by-step process that includes a 100-point condition report covering all aspects of the vehicle to give buyers as much upfront information as possible.
They will then be contacted by one of the MPH teams to view the car in detail and complete the initiation process for the next auction.
Bonhams MPH website went live on June 10, 2019.
James Knight (Executive Director Bonhams) on the new subsidiary:
"Bonhams motor auctions are renowned for their high quality, and to date our sales calendar has primarily catered to the top end of the market. We recognize that the market is evolving and now covers a much broader spectrum for which we were previously unable to offer services or expertise. We are delighted that Bonhams MPH will enable us to offer the same Bonhams values to a wider audience via a streamlined service."
So far, this service is only offered in the UK, but it remains to be seen whether there will be other such centers in the future.
