A progressive and emotional design language, clear lines and surfaces: Automotive design at Audi is based on an explicit aesthetic claim and has developed into a brand core. What appears light and harmonious does not simply flow from the pen, but is the result of a complex process. Over the decades, Audi Design has created a large number of iconic series models and numerous concepts and studies that enjoy legendary status among fans of the brand. In its special exhibition "Design Legends", the Audi museum mobile presents a selection of spectacular concept cars and design studies from the past five decades.
For a better understanding, there will be a lecture on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, on "60 years of clay modeling at Audi Design" by Eike Aden at the Audi Museum Mobile in Ingolstadt. Aden works in Exterior Project Management at Audi Design and will shed light on the period since 1965, when the first-generation Audi 100 secured the future of the company. The event at the Audi Museum starts at 6 pm. Admission is free, but registration is required. Registration is possible by e-mail to [email protected] or by telephone on 0841/89-34433. Registration closes on Monday, June 15, the event begins on Tuesday, June 16, at 6 p.m., and admission to the lecture evening starts at 5:30 p.m.
The special exhibition will be on display until July 12. The exhibits are also integrated into the Audi Tradition app with additional information. Curator Stefan Felber: "It has been 20 years since the Audi museum mobile dedicated an exhibition to the topic of design studies. Since then, our guests have repeatedly requested a new edition - now the time has come: concept cars such as the Audi quattro Spyder and the Audi Avus quattro are back in the museum, along with a few studies that we have never hosted before, such as the Audi e-tron Spyder and the Aztec." In addition to the concept cars, the exhibition will feature special exhibits from the Audi model making department that offer insights into the creative design development process. Sketches, renderings and clay models provide a glimpse into the creative workshop - "they demonstrate the designers' ideas, their methods and the path from vision to form," explains Felber.
