It's not every day that you can buy vehicles from a diverse collection. But Auctionata, in cooperation with the well-known racing car expert Peter Schleifert, is offering 35 cars, a boat and a motorcycle from an impressive collection on October 29, 2016 from 3:00 pm.
In total, the 37 lots are worth over EUR 8.3 million (CHF 9.1 million), so each vehicle is expected to fetch around EUR 226,000 or CHF 246,000, not a low barrier to entry.
Wide range of vehicles
The collection includes both road and racing cars. The oldest car, a Mercedes-Benz 230 Cabrio B, is 80 years old, while the youngest, a Lamborghini Aventador SV, is just one year old.
The value spectrum ranges from EUR 9000 (Fiat 500) to EUR 1.42 million (Ferrari F40). It will be interesting to see how the Auctionata approach performs along the different value categories.
Rare racing cars
Racing cars that you don't see every day also feature on the lot list of the October auction. For example, a March 84G IMSA GTP prototype from 1984, which boasts an impressive Palmares, will go under the hammer. According to the description, the IMSA racing car on offer in the authentic Budweiser design was used a total of four times in the 24 Hours of Daytona and most recently in the historic Group C racing series. Here it won first place at the 2016 Sllverstone Classic and third place at the Le Mans Classic in the same year. This vehicle took first place in the support race of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2008. So an estimated value of EUR 400,000 does not seem unrealistic.
A real big banger is the 1972 Lola T310, which was estimated at EUR 360,000. The CanAM racing car was modeled on the superior 917/10 as a further development of the T260, but was unable to prevail against the Stuttgart carmakers; only two cars were built.
In addition to these two sports car prototypes, Auctionata's online catalog also includes a Formula 5000 March, a BMW 3.0 CSL and a Porsche racing car.
The Cheetah from 1964
The Cheetah GT also belongs to the racing car category. The breathtaking-looking vehicle is road-legal. Auctionata writes: "This example is said to be from the Continuation Series, which Bob Auxier of BTM resurrected in the new century from leftover parts from the 1960s with authorization from Bill Thomas. It is chassis number 19 of the total of only around 30 examples that can call themselves original Cheetahs."
The Cheetah, built from 1964 until a fire in 1965 prevented further development in the production facilities, was supposed to be faster than Carrol Shelby's Cobra at the time and, thanks to direct injection with 385 hp, the 5.3-liter Chevrolet did indeed deliver incredible performance - the car with the long hood, which weighed just under 750 kilograms, is said to have been measured at around 360 km/h in Daytona.
Red and black with Cavallo Rapante
Would you like a Ferrari? Three attractive mid-engined sports cars from Maranello will go under the hammer on October 29.
However, the estimates called for are at the upper end of the market, with Auctionata wanting EUR 650,000 for the 512 BB from 1979, EUR 380,000 for the 512 TR from 1992 and as much as EUR 1.3 million for the F40 from 1991. However, all three cars have low mileages and appear to be in good condition.
Two 500s
Auctionata is offering two of the popular Fiat Nuova 500, one a white L model from 1969 and the other a blue 500 F from 1972.
Estimated values are EUR 9000 and 12,000, the conditions were given by the inspector as 3 and 2.
Rich Porsche selection
Auctionata is offering six Porsches on October 29. The Porsche Carrera GT from 2005, which is expected to fetch EUR 900,000, was highly valued, with bids accepted from EUR 600,000.
A 914/4 2.0 from 1973, i.e. a VW-Porsche, is a much cheaper way to get your hands on a Porsche steering wheel; the estimated price here is EUR 19,000.
The replica of a 934 Turbo from 1976 in Jägermeister livery, estimated at EUR 280,000, should be of interest to racing car fans. As a bonus, this Porsche offers both a road registration (!) and an FIA-HTP for racing. The Porsche 934 (Porsche Turbo RSR) is a 930 Group 4 (934) and was produced from 1976 to 1977 in around 30 examples as a GT racing car, based on the Porsche 930.
Anyone looking for something other than the vehicles described above might be happy with a Cadillac Eldorado from 1973, a boat from Boesch or a Harley Davidson. However, it is certainly worth taking a second look at the vehicles on offer.
Further information and many pictures of the vehicles, as well as a condition report for each car, can be found on the Auctionata website.
