Artcurial's "Sur les Champs" auctions are already a tradition. In 2019, the French auction house will once again be offering 70 cars in Paris on October 27. There will also be almost 50 motorcycles. The cars are on average 44 years old and are expected to find new owners for a total of over EUR 7 million.
Porsche and Ferrari
The sports cars of the Porsche (12 vehicles) and Ferrari brands are the most strongly represented at the Artcurial auction in Paris. Only Mercedes-Benz can boast a larger number of cars (8), the others are represented by less than a handful of vehicles.
Of course, the 70 car lots also include rare and forgotten brands such as Delahaye or Simca, but the majority are actually from manufacturers that are still known today.
A Ferrari Testarossa from the 1980s for less than EUR 20,000?
It may come as a surprise to some that a Ferrari Testarossa from 1988 is being offered with an estimated price of EUR 20,000 to 30,000 (and without a reserve price).
It is worth reading the catalog description more closely, because there you will find out that the car has not been driven since 2011 and the necessary service work for recommissioning was estimated by a Ferrari agency at around EUR 32,000. In addition, there are various optical defects to be remedied, so that despite the low mileage of 34,361 km, the future owner could incur some costs.
The rare Fiat 8V Coupé
Right after the Testarossa, the highlight of the auction, a 1953 Fiat 8V with Rapi bodywork and chassis number 000012, will go under the hammer. Only 34 of these coupés were built as part of the first series and this appears to be the third oldest surviving car. The Fiat was restored in the 1990s and has since been used at various historic events.
EUR 1.1 to 1.3 million is now expected for the rare eight-cylinder coupé.
Rare pre-war Bugatti
Hardly less rare, but only half as expensive as the Fiat, is the Bugatti 23 from 1924 with a two-seater body. EUR 550,000 to 650,000 have been estimated for chassis 2146 and the story seems to be plausible.
This early Bugatti with a four-valve engine took part in the historic Mille Miglia eight times!
Many super classics
Given the high density of Porsches and Ferraris mentioned above, it is understandable that the proportion of super classics is also high.
Whether Ferrari 250 GTE from 1961 (EUR 340,000 to 380,000) Ferrari 308 GTB Vetreresina from 1976 (EUR 110,000 to 150,000), Porsche 911 variants in a wide variety of versions or Jaguar E-TypePorsche 911 variants in various versions or Jaguar E-Type (3 x), they are just as present as a Maserati Bora from 1972 (EUR 125,000 to 175,000), a Facel Vega HK500 from 1959 (EUR 100,000 to 150,000) or a Cadillac Series 62 Convertible from 1960 (EUR 70,000 to 90,000).
Interesting saloons and compact sports cars
Whether it's a Peugeot 205 GTI (1.6) from 1985 (EUR 18,000 to 26,000), a Renault 5 Turbo from 1981 (EUR 90,000 to 120,000) or a BMW 2002 turbo from 1974 (EUR 60,000 to 80,000), anyone looking for driving pleasure is sure to find what they are looking for at Artcurial.
Limousine enthusiasts will find what they are looking for in an Alfa Romeo 155 Q4 from 1992 (EUR 10,000 to 15,000) or an Alfa Romeo 164 QV from 1992 (EUR 10,000 to 15,000), especially as many of these cars are offered without a reserve price.
Fans of the early VW bus should also take a look at the offer, as Artcurial is auctioning two of the coveted Samba variants (built in 1957 and 1966, for EUR 100,000).
Youngtimers with potential
In addition to eight neo-classics, Artcurial also has nine youngtimers on offer, including a Mercedes-Benz 500 E from 1992 (EUR 30,000 to 50,000) and a Porsche 911 Speedster from 1989 (EUR 80,000 to 120,000).
