After the interruption in 2022 forced by Corona, the Rétromobile Paris (February 2 to 6, 2022) wants to return as before and attract the crowds of classic car enthusiasts from all over the world.
The French auction house Artcurial and its auctions on Friday (and Saturday) evening have been an integral part of the classic car fair for many years. Records have been set time and again in Paris.
Artcurial can already announce some highly interesting vehicles for February 4, 2022.
Fangio's Gordini Type 18 S from 1950
Juan-Manuel Fangio and José Froilán drove a Gordini Type 18 S at Le Mans in 1950. It was one of two built with an aerodynamic light alloy body. Under the hood roared the only Gordini engine with a supercharger that still exists.
The car was also entered in the Rome-Liège-Rome Rally in 1951 and has now been estimated at EUR 800,000 to 1.6 million.
Bandini collection
Many people are not familiar with the Bandini brand, but Ilario Bandini's cars had a good reputation and were often to be found in the Mille Miglia classifications. It is extremely rare for several Bandini cars to be auctioned at the same time.
Artcurial, however, can offer nine cars from the collection of nephew Dino Bandini, including a 750 Internazzionale from 1957, a 750 Sport Siluro from 1953 and a 750 GT Veloce Berlinetta Zagato from 1957.
Bugatti and Co
Bruno Lafourcade was an architect and had a great passion for beautiful automobiles. No wonder he had four Bugatti cars in his collection, including a 35C with an interesting racing history.
For Alfa fans, the Giulietta SZ and the Guilietta Sprint Veloce Alleggerita should be worth a trip to Paris when the cars go under the hammer at Artcurial.
Rally cars from Beaudoin Lempereur
No fewer than 19 rally cars from the collection of Belgian enthusiast Lempereur will be auctioned in Paris on February 4, 2022, including a handful from Ford (Cortina, Sierra RS Cosworth, RS200).
Mention should also be made of the Hispano-Suiza H6B from 1924, which the Artcurial people recently rediscovered. The bodywork is missing, but the chassis appears to have been well preserved. EUR 80,000 to 140,000 was the estimate here.
Matthieu Lamoure, Managing Director of Artcurial Motorcars, is still looking for more vehicles for the February auction and explains: "The Salon Rétromobile is the largest and most famous collector car show in the world. Our official sale at this event is the best opportunity for a collector to sell their car at the highest price in a very dynamic market..."
