The engines will be rattling again in Lenzerheide in around two weeks' time. As part of the Lenzerheide Motor Classics, several demonstration drives will take place for the 7th time on the weekend of June 8-10, 2018 on the circuit between Lenzerheide and the Rothorn valley station. Once again, around 200 historic cars, motorcycles, sidecars and three-wheelers are expected to take part. OC President Michael Widmer is once again delighted with the field of participants: "I'm delighted that we're able to welcome so many and such a variety of vehicles again this year. The diversity of the fields is sure to excite numerous motorsport fans once again".
Rarities and original racing cars
A special attraction is the field of vehicles from this year's main sponsor "Villa Trasqua". The "Villa Trasqua - Mille Miglia Racing Team" regularly causes a stir at the legendary car race in northern Italy. This year was no exception, with the Alfa Romeo 6C SS Zagato taking 3rd place.
Villa Trasqua is taking part in the Lenzerheide Motor Classics for the first time with its own field of vehicles. The aforementioned Alfa Romeo 6C SS of the 3rd Series Zagato will also be there. It won the Mille Miglia in 1929 as well as the new edition of the "Mille Miglia Storica" in 2016 and 2017. The Bentley 3 Liter Speed Model (1923) and the Alvis Speed 20 SB (1934) are considered true rarities. The Bentley with the original body by Chalmer & Hoyer is probably the only one of six examples still in existence. The Alvis with the body by Martin & King in Melbourne is also one of only three vehicles built.
The vehicles in field 7 also attract special attention, especially Holger Lange's original Formula 1 car - the Ferrari 639. For Hans Orsatti, OC member and responsible for the paddock, this is a special vehicle: "It is always fascinating to have such original racing cars with us. They exude a very special atmosphere". This also applies to the two Lancia Delta S4s. After the popular Porsches have been used for the race cab rides in recent years, this year the guests will be seated in two original rally cars alongside other brands. Hans Orsatti is convinced that "the two Lancia cars will certainly add to the racing atmosphere during the popular race cab rides".
Up close and personal - along the track, in the paddock or on the race cab rides
The registered vehicles will be presented for the first time on Friday evening, June 8, 2018 during the guided vehicle parade through Lenzerheide. The fascinating performance shows on Saturday and Sunday, June 9/10, 2018, can be followed free of charge in the special spectator areas along the route. For particularly interested spectators, a visit to the paddock at the Rothorn valley station is well worthwhile. Here, professionals and amateurs can exchange ideas and talk shop about the old and historic vehicles.
