Aktiv-Verlag is publishing the book "Rennsport Schweiz" for the 25th time. There are now a total of 35 of these yearbooks, the first ten of which were published by another publishing house.
The founder of the long-running book series is and remains Stefan Lüscher, who was seriously ill. Not only did he cut a fine figure behind the wheel, he is also well known to everyone as a car journalist. Without him and his wife Philomène, this yearbook series would hardly be available in bookshops.
In 2016, Peter Wyss, Stefan's longstanding colleague, took over the reins and has since continued this book series with many external collaborators.
International successes
Although the Swiss automobile championship hardly exists anymore compared to the sixties and seventies, many Swiss drivers are still behind the wheel or the steering wheel worldwide and continue to surprise with great results.
For example, the Sauber team, which was still struggling financially not long ago, was able to embark on a promising new future with Alfa Romeo. In Charles Leclerc, they had a driver in the car this season who will probably be talked about and written about a lot in the future, but then already in a Ferrari.
Also electric
The Formula E-Prix was also the first international circuit race to be held in Switzerland since 1954. For once not in Bern, but in Zurich, but the E-Prix will return to the Swiss capital in 2019.
And let's not forget that Toyota has finally managed to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans, almost as usual with a Swiss driver at the wheel. After Fässler and Jani, Sebastien Buemi is another Swiss with a Le Mans victory under his belt.
History
There was also plenty to see and hear historically, and all of this can be read and viewed in the seven-page book.
Unfortunately, there are also less pleasant pages, such as the sad obituary of Luigi Taveri on page 300.
And, of course, we also take a closer look at Swiss motorcycling figurehead Tom Lüthi's unsuccessful season in the premier class.
Yes, there was a lot going on again in 2018 and so, as usual, the 382 pages focus on the national automobile championships with slalom, hill climbs and rallies.
Ideal Christmas present for fans and collectors
