The date for the anniversary of the ADAC Eifel Rallye Festival has been set: from July 23-25, 2020, the tenth edition will take place in the Volcanic Eifel around the start and finish town of Daun. As in the previous nine years, around 160 cars from 50 years of rally history will once again take fans on a tour of this fascinating sport over the festival weekend. Once again, tens of thousands of spectators will travel from all over Europe, but also from other continents, to celebrate the 'class reunion of international rally sport'.
Eifel Rallye Festival - cultivating rally history
"Our festival has already been lovingly described as the 'elephant's meeting of historic rallying' or as 'a unique mixture of sport, show, rallying romance and tourist summit assault on the Volcanic Eifel'. However, it is important for us to create a basis for the preservation of the history of rallying with the festival," says Reinhard Klein (Cologne), explaining the intention of the event. The head of 'Slowly Sideways', the Europe-wide association of owners of historic rally cars, is responsible for putting together the starting field. "To preserve history, it is important to keep the cars in their original condition. With the quality of their vehicles and the variety of models, our participants form a unique starting field worldwide."
New highlights for teams and fans
The cornerstones of the event remain the same, "we want to stick to the tried and tested, but add new details for participants and fans to create additional attractive highlights," says Otmar Anschütz (Daun). The chairman of MSC Daun and head of organization is responsible for the major event. "We will have two new routes in the program and we have also come up with a few ideas for the anniversary celebrations." The excitement ahead of the festival anniversary is growing among drivers, fans and the entire historic rally community.
