When the Volcanic Eifel shakes again on the weekend of July 21-23, 2022, everything will revolve around the history of rallying. The tenth edition of the ADAC Eifel Rallye Festival will be celebrated around Daun. The largest rally museum on wheels will present the best of 50 years of the World Rally Championship. The official WRC celebrations will take place in May as part of the WRC round in Portugal. The Eifel Rallye Festival will be represented there with a delegation of selected vehicles from the Slowly Sideways circle, which will thrill the fans with their demonstration drives on part of the WRC routes.
The "full program" of WRC history will follow in the Vulkaneifel in July. "Together with our field of participants and the fans, we will bring the history and stories from 50 years of the World Rally Championship back to life," promises Reinhard Klein, who, as the head of Slowly Sideways, is responsible for putting together the starting fields on both dates.

As an appetizer and to get in the mood for both anniversaries at the Eifel Rallye Festival, the Zeroundersteer team has put together a trailer worth seeing. The moving and moving images from the previous festival editions are complemented by historical motifs from cult filmmaker Helmut Deimel.
50,000 euros now donated for the flood victims
Following the devastating flood disaster in the Eifel region, the festival organizers' appeal for donations raised an incredible 40,000 euros in a very short space of time. This support came from festival friends around the globe and was handed over to the "Bürgerstiftung Landkreis Vulkaneifel" in Daun for immediate aid. A further 10,000 euros in donations have since been received.
"We are supplementing these funds with the manpower of the board and members of MSC Daun," explains organization manager and club chairman Otmar Anschütz (Daun). "Now that the flooded cellars and houses are slowly drying out again and can therefore be plastered or wallpapered, we will use the donations and our manpower to support the further renovation work."
Reinforcement in the organization team
The organizational team of the Eifel Rallye Festival was strengthened in December: Ernst Kopp will dedicate the free time he has gained through retirement to the festival. He knows the worldwide motorsport scene, but above all the rally sector down to the last detail. His assignments in leading positions at Toyota took him to the World Rally Championship, Formula 1 and Le Mans, and most recently he managed the workshop in the Hyundai WRC team in Alzenau from the very beginning. The Westerwald native has long been associated with the Eifel Rallye Festival.
Since 2007, he has been a regular guest in the Toyota Celica Twincam Turbo, Björn Waldegard's original Group B car from the 1986 Ivory Coast Rally. In 2017, he thrilled the fans by driving the Toyota MR2 prepared for Group S, which he was able to present to the public for the first time. "With his vast knowledge of rally sport and, not least, his outstanding networking in the global rally scene, Ernst is an absolute asset to us," says organization manager Otmar Anschütz, looking forward to the addition to the team.
