With the current issue 1/2026, "auto motor und sport" celebrates its 80th anniversary. Eighty years is really quite an achievement for a print product; many of its competitors at the time, if they existed at all after the war, have long since passed away or been integrated into other titles.
However, the first issue from 1946 still ran under the name "Das Auto". It was published in December 1946. From 1952, the magazine then featured the first "auto motor und sport" logo, which changed again in the following decades but has actually remained essentially unchanged since 1963.
ams" is celebrating its 80th birthday with a somewhat thicker edition and a look back at its own history. In addition, the original Mazda MX-5 is put through its paces in the series "The old car in the test".
And if you want to browse through and read the old issues of "Das Auto" and "auto motor und sport" from 1946 to 2013 again, you can of course find them all in the Zwischengas magazine archive.
