It is the highlight for all classic car fans and is marked in bold in the calendar every year - the "Oldtimer Grand Prix" in Safenwil. While it was still held on a modest scale in 1992, it is now known far beyond the Mittelland region.
Once again this year, August 17, 2024 is the day for classic car enthusiasts: Immerse yourself, marvel and enjoy.
On the racetrack in original tenues
The event is taking place for the 32nd time. Around 2500 visitors from all over Switzerland and nearby countries come to the grounds of the Emil Frey Autocenter Safenwil to indulge in nostalgia and marvel at the elegance of the historic gems.
Between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., visitors can marvel at the car rarities of all makes from 1970 and earlier as well as the gems from the Emil Frey Museum on the grounds and the secured race track.
The drivers, some of whom are dressed in original tenues from bygone eras, proudly present their oldies. A nostalgic and fascinating journey through time that should not be missed. This year's spectacle is rounded off by the Friends of Old Motorcycles (FAM), who present their two-wheelers and sidecars on the circuit and in the paddock.
Once across the Mittelland
For the fourth time, the rallies will lead across the Mittelland. The wide-ranging field of participants is given the task of completing the selected tours named North, South, West and East within a certain time. In order to arrive at the finish line on time, the participants cannot afford to make any mistakes. The thrill is guaranteed.
In addition to the numerous attractions, the Classic Center Switzerland's collection of vintage cars can also be viewed on the opposite side of the highway. Visitors are chauffeured to the museum in an original London bus to immerse themselves in the long history of these unique vehicles.
Free parking and a generous food offer
Various Grand Prix restaurants will provide ample refreshments. Various food offers and barbecue stands invite you to take a leisurely stroll around the classic car area. Admission is free and there are over 1000 free parking spaces available for visitors.
