The Kitzbüheler Alpenrallye is celebrating its 30th anniversary from June 7 to 10, 2017 with new routes and many highlights. One of the highlights will be the Glockner crossing, which will be held for the first time in the anniversary year. The Grossglockner High Alpine Road offers impressive views of the glacier world of the Hohe Tauern - a breathtaking mountain route in the heart of the Alps. The crossing of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road from Heiligenblut in East Tyrol via the Hochtor and the Fuscher Törl to Salzburg over an altitude of 2,500 meters is a real challenge for man and machine and will really push the 200 rally teams to their limits.
A total of almost kilometers of track await the participants in 2017 - partly sporty (Sport Trophy), partly very relaxed (Classic Trophy). The 1972 model year limit ensures exclusivity in the starting field, a cross-section of the most beautiful classic cars from pre- and post-war times, including rarities from many major brands such as Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin and Rolls Royce.
The main protagonists alongside the automotive rarities are the most famous Alpine peaks and mountains of the Tyrolean, Salzburg and Carinthian mountain world, which will stand guard along the 2017 rally route: Grossglockner, Wilder Kaiser, Kitzbüheler Horn, Hohe Tauern, Loferer Steinberge, Lienz Dolomites, Carnic Alps, Hochkönig...
To mark the 30th anniversary of the Alpenrallye, long-standing sponsoring partner Bentley Motors is celebrating its comeback as the main sponsor, so we can expect a particularly high-caliber line-up of British classics in 2017.
New on board as main sponsors this year are the classic car insurance specialists from OCC, alongside the Schaeffler Group, Bankhaus Berenberg and the Swiss watch brand Chronoswiss, which is producing a special model limited to 30 pieces worldwide exclusively for the 30th anniversary of the rally: the Regulator Rallye Limited Edition 30.
