It is a fixture in the racing calendar of many classic car enthusiasts and one of the most beautiful classic car events in Europe: the Kitzbühel Alpine Rally, which will be taking to the road for the 29th time from June 1 to 4, 2016. With 180 classic cars, 3 stages, 600 kilometers and 30,000 horsepower, the Alpenrallye once again conquers the mountains.
New exciting route
The Alpenrallye has been one of the most popular rallies in the booming classic car scene for almost 30 years. With many selective mountain routes& in Tyrol, Salzburg and neighboring Bavaria, the 2016 rally once again offers new, exciting routes, this time with a special focus on Tyrol with the main stage over the Gerlos Pass, through the Zillertal and to Lake Achensee and many scenic routes through the Tyrolean lowlands. The "Classic Cars" have to cover around 600 kilometers over the three days of the competition. "The overall Kitzbühel package is what makes it special," says Alpenrallye Honorary President Hans-Joachim "Strietzel" Stuck, convinced of the quality of the traditional event, "it's no coincidence that the Alpenrallye is one of the best international classic car events."
Fantastic backdrop
The dreamlike backdrop of the mountains and the unique flair of the "most legendary sports town in the Alps" make the Kitzbühel Alpine Rally a very special classic car rally, to which many prominent participants from racing, film, TV and show, business and sport also lend an exclusive touch.
There are two categories: Sport Trophy (sporty) and Classic Trophy (pleasure drivers). Since last year, the new 1972 model year limit has applied, a step back in the direction of "classic" cars, a step that also corresponds to the philosophy of the traditional rally.
Over the Alpine passes with 30,000 hp
Around 180 classic cars from six decades of automotive history are expected to take part in the 29th Alpine Rally, including major brands such as Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin and Rolls Royce. Among them are magnificent pre-war classics, elegant sports cars and precious limousines from automotive history. In total, over 30,000 horsepower will climb over the most beautiful Alpine passes.
Incidentally, the defending champions are from Tyrol: Helmut Lorenzoni (Kirchberg) and Mike Angermann (Kitzbühel) naturally want to confirm their victories in the overall and mountain rankings in 2016.
If you want to steal the title from the two Tyroleans, you can still register on the website until April 1, 2016.
