Of course, Sean Connery was the leading actor in the James Bond film "Goldfinger", which premiered in September 1964. But a supporting actor almost stole the show.
An Aston Martin DB5 appeared several times in the film and it had a lot to offer, such as license plates that could be changed from the cockpit, an ejector seat, a kind of precursor to the modern navigation system including a tracking function, oil sprayers and extendable tire slashers.
Continuation (continuation of production)
Now Aston Martin, in collaboration with EON Production, the film producer behind the new James Bond films, is producing a new series of this famous Aston Martin DB5 and a number of the film gadgets will also be fitted in the newly built coupé. including the simulated radar screen, a telephone in the driver's door, a special armrest with built-in switches for the gadgets, the retractable shield at the rear, retractable machine guns (simulated), the interchangeable shield, the oil sludge launcher (simulated) and a fog/smoke generator.
Like the original, but significantly more expensive
The cars will therefore look like the movie car, but they will be sold at a significantly higher price than the original. One of the 25 new Bond Astons will cost £2.75 million (EUR 3.2 million, CHF 3.6 million) before tax. The cars are to be delivered from 2020.
Road approval is likely to be difficult, at least in our part of the world, because after all, a true-to-original DB5 can hardly meet the safety and environmental standards of 2020. But if you just want to put the car in a museum, this will hardly matter.
