Although O-iO had to be officially canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid, hundreds of classic cars still drove to Sarnen; after all, it wasn't forbidden. And it showed how popular the annual meeting in Central Switzerland is in the classic car scene.
In 2022 and 2023, the two-day meeting was then held again in its old size. And on May 18/19, 2024, the O-iO can look back on 25 years.
Great interest
More than 230 classic beauties have already registered, from lovingly maintained bread-and-butter classics to exclusive pre-war Bentleys, two Rolls-Royce Silver Ghosts and a breathtaking Lamborghini Countach, etc. This diversity once again promises a unique show for all classic car enthusiasts.
In addition to exhibitions in Sarnen and Engelberg, an idyllic tour on Obwalden's back roads is also on the program on Saturday afternoon. Among other things, the route takes in the route of the Sarnen soapbox race, a project of the local school, the municipalities of Sarnen and the companies where the pupils build their own boxes. Great fun for everyone.
On Whitsunday, the huge O-iO entourage heads to Engelberg, partly on otherwise closed private roads. One of the two routes leads over the Ächerli Pass.
A meeting for everyone
O-iO is free Whitsun fun for the whole family, especially kids. The aim is to bring our scene closer to the general public. A whole package of exciting additional elements offers experiences that appeal to all the senses of young and old. Kids and young people up to the age of 15 can take part in a photo competition about our classic cars. There are attractive prizes to be won, including 3 grams of gold for first place. Meanwhile, younger children can have fun on the Bobby Car track.
The "Belle Époque" era is another focal point with a fascinating presentation of this golden era with authentic groups and vehicles from the time. From 4 p.m. on Saturday, three bands will ensure an exuberant atmosphere in Sarnen.
O-iO is more than just a classic car meeting, it is a folk festival that connects our scene with the spectators. The popular passenger rides on Saturday after lunch in Sarnen further strengthen this bond.
