The 25th edition of the British Classic Car Meeting St. Moritz will take place from July 5 to 8, 2018. For the anniversary edition, the organizers have extended the programme to four days. In addition to the traditional rally and Concours d'Elégance events, participants can also look forward to a challenging hillclimb competition in the form of the Horse Shoe Challenge.
The British Classic Car Meeting St. Moritz (BCCM) is the elegant highlight for friends of classic cars from Great Britain. It combines elegance and class in the breathtaking Engadine Alps. Since 1994, up to 200 classic cars from Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin & Lagonda, Jaguar & Daimler, Austin-Healey & Healey have been meeting in St. Moritz every July for drives, a regularity test (rally) and a "Concours d'Elégance". In the "Open Class", classic vehicles of other British brands built up to 1968 are admitted to the British Classic Car Meeting St. Moritz. This makes the range of interesting classic cars at the BCCM even more attractive.
The anniversary edition of the BCCM St. Moritz starts on Thursday, July 5, with the registration of vehicles in St. Moritz Bad and the evening welcome party with opening dinner in Zuoz. The latter will be held under the motto "Swinging Sixties" and will be hosted by Graubünden comedian Claudio Zuccolini. The additional anniversary day on Friday offers participants an "Easy driving day", where the focus is on enjoyable and stress-free driving. In addition to tests at Engadin Airport and in the parking lots of the Corvatsch cable cars in Silvaplana-Surlej, the "Horse Shoe Challenge" is also on the program. In this hillclimb (mountain test) on the closed-off route between Celerina and St. Moritz along the Olympic Bob Run, the winner is the rider who completes two runs as simultaneously as possible.
"Bernina Rally" on Saturday
As in previous years, the classic rally will be held on Saturday at the anniversary event of the British Classic Car Meeting. In 2018, it will lead from St. Moritz over the challenging route of the Bernina Pass to Valtellina in Italy. It then heads back to the Engadin via the Mediterranean town of Tirano and Bormio. The participants will cover a total of 200 kilometers. In addition to the regular "Sports Classic" category with time classification and ranking, participation in the rally is also possible in the "Mountain Classic" category without rally classification and ranking. This new category was introduced last year for those rally participants for whom the focus is on pure driving enjoyment and not competition.
Concours d'Elégance on Sunday
The real highlight of the meeting is the Concours d'Elégance in the village center of St. Moritz on Sunday, 8 July, which is very popular with the public. All vehicles taking part in the BCCM will be on display on Via Serlas from 10.30 am to around 2 pm. Several thousand spectators will not want to miss this elegant beauty contest and award ceremony along the Badrutt's Palace Hotel. Food stands will provide culinary delights for visitors, who can win attractive prizes in the public competition. The competition for the "Best dressed team" will also take place in 2018. This will be won by the team among the BCCM participants that creates the best overall visual impression with its vehicle.
