From a small workshop on Lake Constance, Goodtimer grew into a classic car center in Eastern Switzerland with locations in St. Margrethen, Teufen, Schaan, Kemptthal, Grosswangen and Giubiasco.
In 2004, the idea was born to give a name to the classic cars that the fourth-generation garage owner's son has restored and collected. Goodtimer" was founded in Steinach on Lake Constance and shortly afterwards a showroom for the sale of classic cars was opened in St. Margrethen. This was followed by a new specialist workshop and garages in the Lake Constance region.
Expansion in 2011
The growth and the desire for a classic car center led Goodtimer founder Marcel A. Widler and his four-person team to look for a suitable infrastructure in 2011. The first garage business in St. Gallen proved to be unsuitable and soon too small, so they returned to St. Margrethen, where they bought a 4,500 square meter site with an existing industrial plant and spent two years converting it into a classic car competence center.
The development of "Goodtimer" was accompanied by other activities, such as his commitment to further training as a lecturer for vehicle restorers in German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland, his work as an examination expert at MobilCity in Bern and the founding of a Swiss-wide care organization called OlditexTM.
In addition to the maintenance, restoration and value retention of collector's vehicles, the Classic Car Center Eastern Switzerland also offers a classic car hotel and sales. In 2023, a new auction house will also be built, giving the sale and brokerage of well-kept classic cars an international character.
It's time to celebrate
In the weeks from April 2 to 28, there will be celebrations in St. Margrethen. Five technical highlights will be on public display every day. From the resurrection of a classic car with an engine fire and the presentation of the new wheel alignment system for classic cars to the expertise of a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, the professionals at Goodtimer will be on public display.
Regional specialties will also be on offer on 27 and 28 April. From a barbecue master from Rapperswil, a traditional winegrower from the Rhine Valley, a start-up from the world of fine dining in Gossau to a top-class paint professional, there will be entertainment and enjoyment.
And if you've always wanted to get a taste of the auction air, you can do so three times on the weekend of April 27-28, 2024: On Saturday at 11:00 and 15:00 and on Sunday at 15:00, vintage cars, classic motorcycles and rare automobilia will go under the hammer.
