The 16th Winter Rally Styria leads the participants - sometimes at night - on snow-covered and icy forest and side roads through dark valleys and over the mountains of the Eastern Alps and offers full driving fun with an ice race at the end over approx. 750 km over two days.
Minutes instead of tenths of a second
A radio-controlled clock and a speedometer are all you need (no tenths or hundredths of a second). Measurements are taken in whole minutes, which can often add up to hours due to a heavy onset of winter. You drive with winter tires, spikes or snow chains on mostly salt-free side roads.
Have fun
The Winterrallye-Steiermark is driven as it was back then: there are time and passing controls that have to be tackled in order - usually according to a map - and some interesting special stages. The driving sections are easy to manage with good navigation - here the co-driver is in the foreground - also in compliance with all traffic regulations.
The focus is on arriving in wintry conditions. Endurance, driving skills and concentration in the vehicle are required - and a well-equipped vehicle is the basis for success.
The focus is on arriving and helping each other in wintry conditions!
Around 60 classic cars up to 1990 are expected to take part, and there is a separate classification for youngtimers from 1991 onwards. The race takes place in the upper Murtal valley, around Salzburg, in western Styria and in southern Upper Austria.
As a special highlight, the watch partner will raffle off a "Walter Röhrl watch - Monte Carlo model" signed by Walter Röhrl among the participants.
