There is something unique and fascinating about the roar of an Alfa Romeo driving through Italy, a sound that evokes history, daring and passion. Once again, the 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Super Sport of the Villa Trasqua team echoed along the legendary roads of this year's 1000 Miglia from June 17 to 21, 2025, captivating the public with its unforgettable style as it crossed the finish line of the 43rd edition first, driven by the Vesco-Salvinelli duo. Joining him on the podium were the Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 SS, driven by the Argentinean team Erejomovich-Llanos, and the Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Spider Zagato, driven by the Tonconogy-Ruffini duo: a podium all in Biscione, underlining the motorsport tradition of the Milanese brand that continues to inspire today.
Amidst the breathtaking scenery, one vehicle in particular attracted attention along the route: the Alfa Romeo 1900 Super Sprint from 1956, racing through the bends and climbing steep hills. The vehicle is part of the Stellantis Heritage Collection and is normally on display at the Alfa Romeo Historical Museum in Arese. On board this breathtaking "Gran Turismo" coupé was the Luna Rossa team, cementing the partnership between Italy's most popular sailing team and the Italian sports brand that has existed since 1910. The two national symbols are preparing for the next America's Cup, which will be held for the first time in Italy on the Gulf of Naples. At the 1000 Miglia, the Alfa Romeo 1900 Super Sprint displayed a blend of elegance and sportiness that made it the favorite coupé of gentlemen drivers in the 1950s and a coveted icon during the economic boom.
The 1000 Miglia is not only a journey into the past, it is also a bridge to the future. Alongside the legends of the past, Alfa Romeo presented its latest creations: the high-performance Giulia Quadrifoglio Super Sport, the special series celebrating the brand's first victory in the 1000 Miglia, the Tonale C-SUV and the Junior Hybrid Q4, the new top-of-the-range version with Q4 all-wheel drive and automated rear axle management.
Fans were also able to admire the new 33 Stradale, which made its dynamic debut on the road in front of an audience and embodies the identity and future of the brand. Produced in just 33 examples, this special model marks the return of the legendary 33 Stradale, an icon of the 1960s, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cars of all time and directly derived from the famous Tipo 33. Like the 1900 Super Sprint racing car, the new 33 Stradale was developed in collaboration with Milan coachbuilder Touring Superleggera in a production process that is unique in the world, taking craftsmanship and innovation to a whole new level.
The true meaning of the 1000 Miglia lives on through this ongoing dialog between what Alfa Romeo was and what it wants to be today. This is not just a celebration of the past, but a lasting testimony to the brand's successes in motorsport. It is also a legacy that goes back to legends such as Tazio Nuvolari. In 1930, together with Giovanni Battista Guidotti, he triumphed in a 6C 1750 at the 1000 Miglia, becoming the first driver to reach an average speed of 100 km/h throughout the race. This achievement is all the more incredible and unforgettable when you consider that the roads were still unpaved at the time.
