Almost 100 years ago, in August 1925, racing cars and motorcycles competed for the first time in the ADAC Schauinsland hill climb on Freiburg's local mountain. This motorsport heritage lives on today in the Freiburg Schauinsland Klassik, which will commemorate 100 years of hill climb records on the Schauinsland in 2025.
The ADAC Südbaden and the Freiburg Motorsport Club will be celebrating this special anniversary from August 1 to 3 with the Schauinsland Classic Rally, the large anniversary exhibition and an international classic car meeting. Admission to the exhibition and meeting is free.
Schauinsland Classic Rally
The two-day Schauinsland Classic Rally on 1 and 2 August 2025 will be the focal point of the celebrations. 140 classic cars built up to 1993 will cover a 230-kilometre route each day, including the historic Schauinsland mountain racetrack. Among them is an Alfa Romeo 6C GS 1750 Zagato from 1940.
The start and finish of the tour is the Freiburg Exhibition Center. The start time is 12:30 on Friday and 8:00 on Saturday. A special highlight awaits the public on Friday evening, when the classic cars roll onto Freiburg's Münsterplatz from 19:30. The absolute highlight will be a Mercedes SSKL built in 1930.
Exhibition of special vehicles
Parallel to the rally, an extraordinary exhibition will take place at Messe Freiburg from August 2 to 3, 2025: More than 80 exhibits tell the story of the ADAC Schauinsland hill climb, which was held from 1925 to 1985. These include the "Green Monster" Opel 12.3-liter racing car, which took part in the first hill climb in 1925.
Racing motorcycles such as the 1931 NSU 500 SS Bullus, racing teams and one-offs, as well as works formula racing cars from all decades, but also spectacular private cars such as the 1972 Mungo T13 by Swiss sports car champion Bruno Huber. In addition to the vehicles, trophies and plaques, pictures and films of the historic race days with their up to 100,000 visitors will be shown.

International classic car meeting
The crowning glory of the anniversary event will be an international classic car meeting on August 3, 2025. From 10 a.m., the Messe Freiburg exhibition grounds will be transformed into the classic car hotspot of southern Baden. Here, clubs and private owners will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and admire a variety of impressive vehicles up close.
Owners of historic vehicles are cordially invited to come with their own classic car and become part of this anniversary event. Anyone who registers their classic car in advance via the website will receive the exclusive anniversary plaque for the 100-year Schauinsland mountain record, a coveted collector's item. A commemorative gift and countless unforgettable moments await all participants on site.
Versatile program
In addition to the impressive vehicles, there is a varied supporting program tailored to both children and adults. An unforgettable day for young and old at the ADAC Erlebniswelt on Saturday and Sunday at the Freiburg Exhibition Center. The youngest visitors will have the opportunity to let off steam on a bouncy castle and gain their first experience on four wheels on the bobby car course. The racing simulators will also once again be a magnet for visitors, allowing them to go on a virtual time hunt and compete with their friends.
